Beautifully Boho - Ankarika Crafts - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hi there!

I'd like to present a greeting card made to order for a Wedding Anniversary. I put a lot of work and heart into it and now I'll tell you how it was created. But let me start by mentioning what my long-time client had in mind and asked me for: a colour scheme of bottle green with gold and graphite blue. The main attraction was to be macramé in any form, elegant style with wood elements. In my personal opinion, it came out beautifully boho - what do you think?

It's rather normal with me that once a month I create a project in line with the colour challenge on the Dusty Attic blog. This colour combo really coincidentally fell into this challenge, I swear it's a coincidence which I was really thrilled about. The combination of these colours is truly madness. The card base has been made according to my fixed pattern, there is layering: there is a beige base, a gold frame and decorative paper in a shade of green trimmed on the machine. This is the paper that has the centre cut out, the gold ribbon is lined and I have threaded a delicate whole ribbon around the frame through the pre-punched holes. The effect is fantastic, but this is something I already knew about before I got down to it, because about six months ago I made very, very similar twin cards. 

The central section is a smaller piece of decorative paper also lined with gold ribbon around the edges. On top of this I arranged a delicate decorative grid cardboard panel, which I coloured gold using wax. There you can also see the ragged gauze underneath. The next layer is a beautiful feather wings sticking out from underneath the flower composition at the top, and wooden slices on which I arranged the macramé. The leaf has a matching green tonality thanks to different combinations of waxes, while the woods are whitened with white acrylic paint.

I have placed beautiful white flowers on both cards: one is made of fabric, the other of foamiran. They are surrounded by paper leaves and remnants of the cordon that was left over when I did the macramé. The composition is enhanced with beautiful vintage-style ribbons and gold cord. You can also see cute little butterflies between the leaves, and stylish decorative corners at the bottom of the work. Almost all the pieces are lightly brushed with gold wax. I made both macramé pieces with my own hands, and again I declare that this is something I adore with all my heart. The day will come when I will grow this love in to myself. And you? I also have to mention the field plant on the macramé, it's absolutely adorable and adds that natural style - it's kept in the aforementioned green and gold colours. The entire art message is reinforced by the subtitles: So Happy Together and Close Together, as well as from another set: Time to Celebrate and Congratulations. The cards are splashed with white paint and I also added tiny white pebbles in several places. How do you like the end result?

Always findtime... - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn

Hello Dusty Attic fans

And just like that ..... it's June! Is it just me, or does time seem to be going faster and faster? I am back on the blog with a new project for Dusty Attic.

I first layered and matted my photo, and adhered to my page with foam tape - only to the centre of matting, so I was able to tuck in flowers and chipboard. The panel grid (DA2373) was painted with orange chalk paint and then cut in half adding one piece to the right of the photo matt, and the other to the top left of the photo matt.

I then added flower die cuts and flowers to each side to make up the clusters. Once these were done I added the heart stems (DA3260) chipboard - painted first with white and brushed over with a light green. 

The title "Always Find Time for the Things in Life that Make You Happy" (DA1458) is painted with a darker green paint. Once this was dry, I adhered this to my page and then added Glossy Accents to give the title dimension. 

I finished off adding 49 and Market's Curators Essential stitched washi tape and some bling.

A Girl and her Dog - Belinda Spencer - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello Dusty Attic fans!

It's Belinda here with you today to share my layout inspired by the gorgeous February Mood Board using lots of fun Dusty Attic products.

'A Girl and her Dog'

For this layout I started by adding some stencilling to the background patterned paper using the Heart Attack Stencil with white gesso. The white spots on the paper made the love hearts look weird so I used a fineliner pen to add an outline.

Next I created a stack of co-ordinating patterned paper, a torn piece of the corrugated card and a Grid Panel at the bottom. I tore the edges of the grid panel away in places to give it a more rustic look.

Next I painted the chipboard pieces that I wanted coloured. I gave those pieces a couple of coats of gesso first. Then I mixed up some acrylic paint to match the mood board and applied that to select pieces.

Finally I assembled my layout adding my photo and some extra embellishments.

Card Set - Ankarika Craft - Mood Board Inspiration

A three-week break from publishing is way too long! All because in October we announced recruitment to the Margaret Paper Design team. Applications were coming in and I was trying to review them on a regular basis. This is our first DT and we are constantly discovering surprises related to this delightful occasion. What can I say... It's fantastic: great artists, enthusiasm for work and all this with a high level of satisfaction. Let this moment last for ever!!!!

I have 4 works to describe and publish, the first of which is today's wedding and baptism cards. I used sheets 10B for baptism and 12B for a wedding from the "Breeze Of Dreams" collection.

Hi there!

I was creating these cards with some breaks for three weeks... THREE WEEKS! After my August illness, I had so many delays that unfortunately my passion had a moment to breathe from me. In addition, my car died, so I had to urgently deal with the disposal of the old one and the purchase of a new car. Whoever changed the car urgently knows what I'm writing about... Without my husband's help, I'd have had a mental breakdown. This is not a joke. So I sat down to fulfil these two orders in my spare time. Fortunately, both orders were without deadline and both ones were for the 40th wedding anniversary. In my case, two similar works are created much faster than two completely different ones. How is it with you? Wait... - these cards are not the same, they differ significantly, I used similar accessories, the same colour palette, but the compositions are completely different.

It's official! Summer holiday season is on. It'll probably be celebrated in a different way than in previous years, due to different restrictions in individual countries. However, I hope that we'll be able to go to some lovely places and take a break from everyday matters. Meanwhile, I prepared this charming layout for you in June and now I'll describe it to you in detail. It is an order commissioned by a couple, for close friends on the occasion of their wedding anniversary. This layout was created in cooperation with the Australian producer of chipboard shapes for craft - The Dusty Attic  which I love with a great love! I am waiting for my DT package from them which is a big relieve as I'm almost running out of chippies and this could mean a deadlock in my daily art work. :)

Hello dear friends

I am back on the Dusty Attic blog today sharing this layout I created using a variety of different chipboard pieces, 49 And Market Paper and flowers.

I was inspired by this gorgeous photo of a friend 's grandchildren and decided to us bright complimentary blue and orange to pretty it up.

The page design showing papers layered upon another proofed quite tricky to use because although the lines appear straight,  they aren't. I therefore decided to place my photo with a bit of a Dutch tilt to fit the arrangement.

Using such a large photo (4x6), I decided to keep it simple. I created a bit of texture layering sections of the the grid panel  chipboard and burlap to create an area to place my photo. I coloured the chipboard grid by spraying it lightly with 13@rts chalk spray.

Next I  painted my chipboard leaves with 13@rts acrylic paint and slided them into my burlap layers.

I added some of the beautiful new 49 And Market flowers and decided to add theses beautiful chipboard butterflies which I  coloured with Broken China Distress Oxide ink.

Last but not least I simply coloured my title with Archival Black ink and affixed it in place.
