Beautiful Moments - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn

Hello lovelies

This year is just about done and dusted and this is my last Dusty Attic project for 2023!

Something a little different from a layout, I have created a project using a Dusty Attic shadow box (DA3431). This comes flat, and has been etched that you make up the box - as in the first photo in the collage. This is then folded up and glued together to make up the box, which I then painted with heavy white gesso. When this was dry I then added stenciling to the frame using the Postcard Stencil (DA3598). I have added patterned paper to the bottom of the box for the background.
Once dried, I then used a mix of Prima Art Alchemy metallic and matte colour waxes to add colour to the frame.
The mini foliage (DA2786) and the title "Beautiful Moments" (DA3322) were also gesso'd and coloured using the same Art Alchemy waxes.

I then layered flowers and fussy cut flowers to the right bottom inside corner of the shadow box and built this up, before adding the Geometric border (DA1029) - which I cut off the ends to create a decorative feature on either end of the flower clusters. The photo and the rest of the flowers, fussy cut elements were then added once the border was adhered. This piece of chipboard border was painted with Prima Art Alchemy Sparks Acrylic Paint.
I have added the mini foliage through the flower clusters on the outside as well as on the inside. I finished off adding pearls throughout, and dry brushing white paint to some of the flowers.
These are the Dusty Attic products I have used:

Thanks for visiting the blog, and I will see you all in 2024. Best wishes for a happy new year!

Hugs,
Michelle

Unforgettable moments - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello lovelies!

I can't believe we are in the last month of the year. Believe it or not, I am sitting here with a cardigan on. I think mother nature missed the memo about having summer here in NZ. My blog feature today is a project using the December moodboard.

Have a go at the Moodboard and stand a chance to win one of two AUD50 worth of gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard. Add your entry to the Dusty FANattics Facebook page. Here is my layout using the colours:

The layout is created using 49 and Market ARToptions Rouge collection. I first painted the Collage Framework #8 (DA3633) before I added my photos. I love these new collage pieces - Dusty Attic have a few designs to choose from. I added the framed photos to the page with foam tape. From there I began building up flower clusters adding Rose Leaves (DA3560) in the clusters.

All the chipboard was painted using acrylic paint. I used a sponge to lightly dab the acrylic paint onto the leaves and the word strip "beautiful moments" (DA3322) so as not fill the leaf veins or letters with paint.
Once all the flowers and leaves were down, I then added the title "unforgettable moments" (DA1459)

My Sunshine - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hi there

Back on the blog today with a layout inspired from the November moodboard:

Remember you can also take part in the moodboard challenge by using the moodboard as inspiration and adding Dusty Attic chipboard to your project and show it off on the Dusty FANattics facebook page. Two random entries are chosen to win AU$50 each worth of gorgeous Dusty Attic chippie!!
Here is my layout I have created using the colours from the moodboard:
This layout features a photo of my beautiful daughter. All chipboard has been painted with burnt orange acrylic paint, and some touched with a red acrylic paint.  The photo has been matted with paper and adhered to the page with a piece of foam tape. I added due cuts and flowers around the photo.
All chipboard has been painted with a mix of red and orange acrylic paint - dabbed on with a sponge. I then added stickles to the botanical mix flourishes (DA3351) before adding these under the flowers and the photo matt. I added some crazy stitching (DA1673) to the top left and right bottom of the page

The word disc that says "the sweet life" (DA3321) is one of a number of discs in the pack - the pack has same really great sentiments to use on your layouts. I added butterflies (DA3335) to the flower cluster.
The title is one of a few tags from DA1803.

Treasure the little moments - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn

 Hello Dusty FANattics

It's hard to believe we just under two months to the end of 2023! Here is my project for November:

The layout is made with Scrapboys papers and 49 and Market flowers. I tore the one paper and adhered it to the base paper. The photos were then matted with distressed papers, and adhered to the page with foam tape. I then used some letters from DA2390 (Jumbled Letters) - painted with white acrylic paint (dabbed on with a sponge), and tucked these under the photo matt as a feature.
The rest of the chipboard was also painted with white acrylic paint and when this was dry, lightly sponged over with a chalk brown paint. Once this was dry, I lightly brushed over the pieces with stickles.
I began first with my flower clusters - and added mini foliage (DA2786) among the layers of flowers. I add the shutters (DA2199) apart and lifted them.
I have also added botanical buttons (DA3316) and added the title Treasure the little moments (DA1606). I finished off adding some white splatters.

Life is a daring adventure - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello lovelies

Today I am on the blog with a layout created using the October moodboard.

I have used papers from 13 Arts and Ciao Bella and done a bit of fussy cutting from the 13 Arts paper to create my layout.
For this layout I have used two sets of chipboard - Industrial Jumbo Gears (DA2860) and Foliage #4 (DA1294). I dabbed metallique brown paint on all the pieces first using a sponge and waited for this to dry. Once this was dry I added a dark teal metallique paint to the chipboard pieces, also dabbing this on with a sponge
I first added matting layers behind the photo before adhering this to the page with foam tape down the centre of the matted photo. I did this so that I could add my fussy cut pieces and gears under the photo as I did my layering.
I started first with fussy cut pieces than added the gears - some pieces were added with foam tape so I could create my different layers.
Once these were all layered I then added some of the foliage.

You can take part in the monthly moodboard challenge by using the moodboard to create a project (anything, as long as you use Dusty Attic Chippy) and add your project the Dusty FANattics facebook page. 2 random winners are selected and will win one of two AUD50 worth of gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard.
