Happy Easter - Adri Du Preez

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the blog today. My April design team layout features beautiful Dusty Attic Easter elements. I have now used all my Easter chippies. This layout is filled with carrots and bunny ears peeking out everywhere.  They are just so cute.

This is my daughter and her family celebrating Easter.

Here is my layout.

All the chippies were first covered with a layer of white acrylic paint, and then painted with Americana Acrylic paint.

I glued pink cardstock behind the ears of the bunny title.

For the rust effect on the spade and watering can I lightly covered them with white gesso making sure I don't cover the detail. With a sponge brush, I then dabbed the spade and the watering can with Grey Storm, Slate Grey, and randomly with Georgia Clay.

I covered the picket fence with white acrylic paint, Grey Sky, and the edges with Grey Storm.  This was glued on top of the carrots, plant labels, and bunny ears.

Kingfisher - Pascale B - Mood Board Inspiriation

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a new mixed-media panel inspired by the April color combo.

Here is the beautiful April color combo.

After priming the canvas cardboard with white gesso, I glued some washi tape. Next, I added some rub-ons. I covered everything with clear gesso and added a design with modeling paste and the Sunburst stencil.

I primed all the chipboard with white gesso.

I painted the Maiden Fern and the Foliage #23 in green. I painted the Wheat #3 small and the Wildgrass #1 in yellow and orange.

I glued all the chipboard with 3D gel and added some flowers. Next, I painted the background with all the colors I used to paint the chipboard.

To finish, I added some glitters.

Kind to yourself - Patricia Basson

Hello Blogfriends...

Today I am back with my Design Team Project for Dusty Attic.
For this Layout I used papers from Prima's Watercolor Floral Collection. I used two of the same sheets, trimming the top one a little smaller, distressing it and lining up with the bottom one. From the other sheet I cut several strips of paper, distressed them and added Blue and Pink Old Fashion Ribbons to them. I then Handstitched on top of the ribbons. I raised the strips for extra dimension to the page. I also used a stencil and embossing paste on the background, embossed with Lavender Speckle Embossing powder from Ranger.

On the Dusty Attic Chipboards, Swirly Flourish #2 and the Mystic Frame #2, I embossed them with two layers of white UTEE ( Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel)
Whilst the enamel was still hot, I sprinkled Love Letter Embossing Powder from Ranger and Raspberry Lemonade from Lindy's Stampgang onto it and heat set it again with a Heat gun. The UTEE makes the embossing powders melt and move and results in a gorgeous Marbled effect.

I embossed the Large Seagrass Chipboard with Ice Age Embossing powder from Cosmic Shimmer. To add a little touch of Bling, I flicked diluted soft gel, on the page dusted with Distress Garland Glitter from Ranger.
The flowers are from 49 and Market.

These are the Chipboards used from the Dusty Attic On-line Store...

Thank you once again for viewing my work...Happy Crafting till next time.

Tricky Bricks - Deb Stephens

Hi everyone! This simple mixed media layout features photos of my Husband and Son building their Lego Technic projects together that they got for Christmas.

Believe it or not, this layout was actually inspired by the sketch challenge layout for April, and then it evolved and went off in a totally different direction as I added more photos.

I used DA2885 Boom Cranes, DA3437 Building Blocks, DA2874 Under Construction, and DA0861 Mini ABC Upper and DA 0862 Mini ABC Lower alphabet to complete this layout. They chipboard was painted and finished with Glossy Accents or embossed.

This Layout was done on a smooth White piece of cardstock that was sprayed with acrylic sprays, embellished with stamps and paper tape along with some patterned paper to mount the photos on.

I finished off the layout with a black gel pen that I scribbled around the page with. I have done a process video that is up on my YouTube channel under the Dusty Attic Design Team projects Playlist, if you want to watch how this was created. Link here:

Thanks for joining me on the bog today.

The Simple life - Miss Carrie

Hello, crafting friends. It's Miss Carrie here with another scrapbook project for you to try. Today, I am working with a ren fest photo and chose to create a more fanciful scene with floral layers, bits of chipboard, transfers and texture paste.

I started by building background layers with stencils and floral chipboard pieces. I wanted to bring out the red hair in both our children., so I created a soft pattern in the background with the chicken wire stencil and mahogany ink. Over the top, I added a textured pattern using the distressed grid stencil. I mix opaque grit paste with walnut ink to create this lovely design.

After adding a few layers of ephemera paper, I added some chipboard elements from the wildflower 3 pack pack. I gave these a soft coat of white paint to help them stand out over the neutral papers.

I did cut these chipboard pieces apart so that I could continue the stem potion below the photo. This also reduced some of the bulk on the page.

Behind the photo, I added layers of bookplate ephemera, floral rub on transfers, acetate leaves, and elements from the creative layers 9 collection. I shaded the chicken wire and flora pieces with a mix of blue distress oxide sprays to match the soft blue in the rub-on transfers.

I layered these items with small tea leaves, botanical leaves, and the flowerposie. To bring some more colour to the page, I painted the posies with distress oxide sprays. After prepping them with white gesso, I poured some ink into the paint palette and added a few layers of colour.

The title on this page also came from the creative layers collection. To make the phrase stand out, I painted this with a soft white, then added a coat of dark brown. Before the paint had a chance to dry, I wiped off the dark brown so that it only stayed within the letters on the chipboard.

I chose to keep the title simple and layered it over a few chipboard phrases with a little blue heart. I brought a few more phrases with a little adventure chipboard phrase with a little adventure chipboard phrase and a circular phrase from the designer disc 10 collection.

The word disc was painted in a soft white and then layered with a chipboard frame to help it stand out more again the botanical pieces. The script letters on the disc are beautifully designed and create a lovely statement piece on the page.

Throughout the page, I tucked more leaves and floral bits and added some texture with twine. I tucked the story behind the photo in a little pocket and topped it off with a tab.

I hope this project inspired you to try something new.

I cant wait to see what you create
