Goldilocks - Geraldine

Hi there, Today I am sharing a layout of my daughter from a Fairytale Story Book photo shoot....easy to guess the story here!  I love this Large Woodlands overlay and couldn't resist covering it in the 'New' Dusty Attic Rusting Powder. WOW, look at the amazing colours it creates on this overlay and it is very simple to do.

This is the Dried Rusted overlay before I started to add details.

ATC and Christmas - Robin Shakoor

I can hardly believe that winter is here.  I loved the them this month and was inspired to create a glittery ATC featuring Flower Layers #4 Mixed Pack (DA1014) and ATC Frame #1 (DA0673).  I painted the poinsettia using Dusty in Color - Navajo White acrylic paint (DA0903) then sprinkled white glitter on top while the paint was still wet.  I painted the leaves using Dusty in Colour - Forrest (DA0919) acrylic paint.

I used silver paint along with silver Stickles to add super shine to the ATC frame.

To finish my design, I used silver Stickles to create dots for an extra wintery feel.

Hello everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.  Today I am pleased to share a minature Christmas Drawer.  I used Dusty's beautiful Branch #2 (DA0882) which I painted using Dusty in Colour - Navajo White acrylic paint (DA903).

After painting the branches, I painted each leaf using Dusty in Colour - Dusty Pink (DA0907) acrylic paint.  Once the paint was dry, I used Diamond Stickles to give the leaves a frosty appearance.

Thanks for visiting with us today.

Altered Sleigh - Rachelle

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
we wish you a Merry Chrismas .....
and a Happy New Year ...
(Did you sing that in your head ??)
Rachelle decorated one of the Photo Carousels for the TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS special that we did - (look back on the blog to see that and the other great projects ) and that Carousel totally "blew me away" - BUT now she has also done this A-MAZZZ-ING piece as well.
Together with the Maja Papers it is just beautiful !
I can not say how much I love this !!!
(Thank you Rachelle)

Hello, today I am here to share with you a altered Christmas Project. I live in a small rural town of about 9000. In this little town,we have some great places to shop. One of my fav's is Balloon Tycoons, Bev carry's everything in her store. She has scrabooking supplies, toys, balloons, you name it she has got it, & yes she even carry's Dusty Attic & is now looking into Maja Design. Well, with all my altered work I have been doing,Bev asked me if I would do this sleigh for her, as it has been in the store for a few years. I took it home & started to work on it & decided I wanted a small teddy bear in the sleigh, so I went back to Bevs & she had these 2 collectibles that have been in her store since 1997. I was so happy, & this project even became more fun!!! On the way home from Bev's,I stopped in the 2nd hand store & bought 2 crochet doily's for 25 cent. What more could a girl ask for, to get her Vintage looking sleigh!!!!

The Dusty Attic Chipboard Used:
poinsettia DA0648
mini heart buttons DA0682
Decorative Scroll #2 DA0206
mini hinges DA1006
Christmas Tree #2 DA0648
ornate corner # 6 DA0465
stars#2 DA0937
pot & Columns DA0546

& nameplates #4 DA0585

I also used the Vintage Autumn Basics & Vintage Frost Basics Collection from Maja Design

I started off by altering the sleigh. I used the front of the sleigh as a seat, then made my own front out of a piece of chipboard that I curved.
I then covered the sleigh with Maja paper. I used metallic silver distress paint on the under part of the decorative scroll. My next step was to put a thick coat of crackle on to the sleigh,& while that was still wet I placed the under part of the scroll. On the top part of the scroll I used a brown marker, then TA black gold. I applied crackle onto the under scroll, then placed the top part on & applied a coat of crackle to the top.Once the crackle had dried I used a brush & applied some TA black gold to bring out the cracks....

The curved front of the sleigh, using ornate corners & hinges plus Tim Holtz jump rings, mini fasteners (brads),screw eyes, chains & tassels.....

This is where I used 1 of the columns,to make a step at the back of the sleigh, for the tree, presents & bunny....
I did my layered tree, using distressed picket fence crackle, texture effects, tulle, beads, burlap & mini roses
On the outside edges of the sleigh I used texture effects & rock candy glitter....
I used a brown marker on the nameplate, then TA black gold. I also cut out pieces of paper I was working with on the nameplate.....
Yes!!!!I do not have to wrap any more tiny presents until next year & I don't even want to count, how many Christmas trees I did this season!!!!
I wet the poinsettia, lifted the edges, then painted it with metallic silver distress paint. I then used a paint brush & applied some texture effects to the outside edges. For the center I used seed beads.....
The ribbon on the bear & bunny,is old basic grey, they are so cute, there heads turn,& arms & legs move....

Have a Very Merry Christmas & all the Best for the Year 2014.....Rachelle

Other products used: Prima Stencil static 6x6,Prima sunset, sunrise roses silver,Prima engraver collection-trim,Tim Holtz rock candy crackle, TH,rock candy glitter,TH picket fence crackle,TH gem clips,Martha Stewart Texture effects white, lace, burlap, liquid accents, stickles, micro beads, seed beads
The Advent Calender is wood & all drawers slide open. Dusty Attic has some beautiful inserts, to go in the Calender, I used part of one of the inserts, then decided to play.......
I distressed my Maja Papers, did some stencil work, using texture effects & once that dried I glued the paper to the back & sides.I also had made layers, that look like snow drifts, under the star area (to have the sky & the ground)that you can see on the lower photo on the left side. Well, I spent hours on that & started to embellish & lost my layers!

I love, love all of the Maja die cuts, so that is why, I wanted to create a winter,Christmas scene using them...

I tried my best at getting it 3D......
On all the paper, except for most of the die cuts I applied rock candy crackle, then sprinkled on rock candy glitter.....
I cut out pieces of paper for the roofs & some of the houses,on a couple houses I used the mini brick. I again applied the rock candies & once that dried I used some texture effects on the roof,& sprinkled on some glitter while that was still wet....
I used texture effects on the stars & sprinkled on micro beads & glitter....

I did the same with all the trees....I left the fence raw, except for the effects on the top...the fence is the birdcage #5,that I cut off the top & flipped it upside down....
I used picket fence crackle on the lamp posts, rubbed in some brown chalk once the crackle dried, then added some texture effects to the top.....
I cut out a couple pieces of paper for the little drawers, glued the full piece on,then the ripped piece on, with a piece of lace in between.I then applied a coat of rock candy crackle,& sprinkled one some RC glitter. The little knobs are Tim Holtz paper clips (gem clips). I cut off most of the clip, leaving enough so that I hammer in a hole with my little hammer & paper pierce on the box,to glue on the knob....
Shows the 3D,on the floor I used the brick paving. On the brick I used picket fence crackle & sprinkled on RC glitter while it was wet....
Another 3D, & on the lower photo I had to include the Canada Stamp!!!!!!
Now for the bird houses,I Looooooove the bird houses!!!!So much fun to play with & another little winter scene!!!!
This is where I used the die cuts from the Vintage Winter Collection.
I did the same to the bird houses as I had done with the drawers.......
I cut out pieces of the Maja paper for the birds, inked the edges, glued them on to the chipboard, applied some crackle & used a pearl for a eye.On the grass clusters I used picket fence crackle,on the stems, then rubbed in chalk. On the heads of the grass I applied RC crackle, then sprinkled on micro beads & glitter while wet. I left the wagon wheel raw, except for a brad in the center, inking the edges & texture effects & glitter on top....
I punched out scalloped  layers for the the roof, then applied texture effects to the scallops...
I love to play with these altered pieces, only problem is, is that you can't stop working on them, because you want to see the end result. I love how the bird houses turned out with the woodsy, outdoorsy feel!!!
I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas & all the Best for Year 2014....Rachelle
