Escape - VIDEO TUTORIAL - Gabrielle

Hi All! It's me Gabrielle here with you today to share some summery fun with Dusty Attic chipboard! I'm super excited because I just recently got my nice stash of  Dusty Attic chippies in the mail, and I am head over heals in love with the new scripty titles Jennifer Hedger just released!  One of my favorites from the new selections is the Word Pack #10.....love the soothing summery words!  I used one of them for this beach canvas.

Dusty Attic Products used on this page:
~ Crooked Fence
~ Word Pack #10
~ Anchors
~ Seagulls
~ mini Seagulls
~ Grass Clusters #1

I used the Dusty Attic Inspiration Board as a jumping off spot for my canvas design, I just love this months serene peaceful colors and words!  ....If you haven't played along this month, there still is time!  Just be sure to link your project to the right column of this blog to be entered into the challenge and have a chance at the AWESOME monthly prize!

So, rather than explain each step in creating this canvas I thought I'd share another Video Tutorial so you can just sit back relax and watch! Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed my video tutorial today, I had lots of fun making it!  Here are a few close-ups that you can view at your leisure....

Here you can see some of the chipboard designs close-up so you can see in more detail how I finished the chipboard designs.  I also made a few embellishments out of air dry clay (Martha Stewart, ...the Starfish and barnacles).

I just love the crooked fence design!  This is my first time using this chippie and I love the way it looks for this beach scene!

I added some sand color seed beads to the beach area just for a little added texture to the canvas.

Here you can see a close up of the title chippie and the stamp work I added using my own stamp design (peeled paint)....the stamp can be found at The Scrapbook Diaries.

I was really happy with the way the anchor came out too!  I used some 3D Bronz metalic paint on the anchor and then spritzed it with Shimmerz Taupe of the World Vibez paint.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and hope you feel inspired to enter the Dusty Attic May Inspiration Board challenge!

Snuggles - Lisa Gregory

Hi there! Lisa here with another layout using the gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard. This time I tried to go simple, and create some white space, but I got a little carried away. I filled my white space with lots of texture. I absolutely love the Ivy Corners chipboard and wanted it to take center stage on the layout. To begin with, I mounted my Prima paper on a piece of 12x12 corrugated cardboard. I gave it a light coat of clear gesso. I used crackle texture paste with a Tim Holtz stencil, then used various colors of Lindys Stamp Gang sprays on the background once the texture was almost dry.
My daughters new puppy loves to snuggle. I love to snuggle him  back. I grabbed this shot with my webcam the other day when I was puppy sitting.

Before I colored my chipboard pieces, I treated them with a coat of Dusty in Colour Navajo White.
Once the paint dried, I used Lindys Stamp Gang Magicals to color the leaves, then sprayed on some Starburst spray for a 2 toned effect. I love the intricate details in the trendils of the vines.

I sprayed the  Cuddles word from the Word Pack #11 set with one of the same colors I used on the background.

This is just a closeup of the butterfly and flowers.

The butterfly is a Tim Holtz Stamp that I stamped, copied  and edited in Photoshop to get different sizes, then I cut out the different sizes I created and colored with Lindys Magicals. I used the Dusty in Colour Clear Crackle Varnish over the entire butterfly to give it the look of an old vintage brooch. I love the crackles!!

I hope you get to join us for the Mood Board Challenge this month. It could be your chance to win some Dusty Attic goodies!!

Happy Days - Joanne Bain

 Hi Peeps

Just sharing my latest creation created for the April Dusty Attic Mood Board Challenge. The challenge  has an amazing prize of a $100 Dusty Attic Gift Voucher for the winner and to enter you simply need to use the Mood Board for Inspiration, you can interpret it anyway you like. The only requirement is that Dusty Attic chipboard is used in your creation. Once completed simply add your link to the right side bar of the Dusty Attic blog.

So this is the May Mood Board.

>

This is how I interpreted it..

'Happy Days'

I was inspired by the picture there is just something about the beach that is calming and I was also inspired by a few of the colours.

To create the background I have used the gorgeous Scroll Border #1, I love the flowing feel it gives to the page. I then added 2 Swirly Vines to the top for added dimension.

I added some cotton gauze behind the chipboard to add extra texture and softness to the page. I added texture paste and paint to all chipboard. I mixed together some of the Dusty Colours to create a colours that I wanted. Once they were mixed I added quiet a bit of water to the mix so it was more of a light wash of colour rather then having a bold bright colour.

I added lots of tiny shells to make the page feel a little beachy, they fitted perfectly in the gaps between the chipboard pieces. I added a zipper for the metal piece and a Prima resin corner piece.

Under the photo I have used a ATC Frame #3, I have cut this in half to make it bigger and then I have added the small string frame from the String Frame set.

Smiles are Free - Helena Johannson

This months inspiration board uses some of my fav colors - different kind of teal and turquoise - just amazing! So, I pulled out some of my fav Dusty Attic chipboard pieces and lots (lots!!) of flowers in different blue shades. This is what I came up with:

And here is the inspiration board:

I have used the Ornate Gate small (DA0189) and Ornate Corner #13 (DA1137), both painted white and then distressed a bit.

Now prepare yourself for lots of close-ups!

Lots of layering of papers and flowers!

"Smiles are free" - I adore my daughters smile!

For the background, I painted the Prima paper with some white gesso, then used a stencil with clear gesso and misted with different mists. I have also painted with perfect pearls around the flowers and chipboard.

Thank you for stopping by today!

xoxo

I combined the Vintage Autumn Basics & the Nyhavn Collections, from Maja Design.
Here are some close ups of detail....
I used distressed brushed pewter stain, & crackle on all the chipboard showing the pewter color. I sprinkled on seed beads onto the heads of the lavender, while the crackle was still wet...
I mixed in DA storm cloud into the texture paste,to get the gray in the stencil work...
For the turquoise, I first painted the chipboard with DA Oceania, then I applied turquoise stickles..
I also inked the edges of the chipboard using a charcoal ink pad...

Thank you so much for taking the time to look,& I can't wait to see what you come up with, with this months Mood Board....Rachelle
