MDF Reindeer - Deb Stephens

I love these new MDF, Beyond the page projects that Jen has made. Although I have only featured one here, I plan to have a whole family of them under my Tree by Christmas!

I used the Holiday Spray, Bows and mini Jingle Bells on the Large MDF Reindeer.

The Reindeer was covered in Christmas Collage paper and then decorated with Chipboard and Mini Wreaths from my stash. 

His Antlers were glittered and finish him off beautifully! He is decorated on both sides so I can display him either way.

Easel Card and Tag - Deb Stephens - Mood Board Inspiration

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. The traditional colours always  appeal so I decided to make an Easel Card and matching Tag using some classic Dusty Attic Chipboard that matches the Mood Board for this month.

The large wood frame was painted and layered up with Pine sprigs, Christmas Berries and mini Pinecones, Mini Holly, along with the classic Black Christmas Labels. 

This was all finished off with some traditional Christmas flowers and some snow texture paste.

The Gift Tag was painted and  embossing paste and powder was applied through the Wood Panel Stencil. The Pine sprigs, Berries and Mini Holy was used again along with the Black Labels.

Christmas Snow Globe - Deb Stephens

It's coming! One of my favourite times of the year is Christmas, because of decorations. The trees are already up in the shops and windows are being dressed with Christmas Cheer.

This little Christmassy ornament features some new Dusty Attic chipboard Mini Houses and DA0652 Mini Christmas Trees. 

These gorgeous little houses were painted and then assembled with glue. I then  painted some DA1696 mini icicles and glued them onto the edge of the roof. grit paste and shimmer were then applied to make things sparkle!

DA0652 Mini Christmas trees were painted and dried. A glass mini hanging terrarium was glued to a wood slice base . When that dried, I cut a chipboard circle to be inserted into the base of the glass terrarium. slits were cut into this piece so the mini trees could be glued in to stand up. 

I sprayed adhesive onto the backs of the glass and put in some fake snow and glitter and then rolled it around until it stuck to the glass and some of the houses. 

This was such a fun and easy project to make, you could make it and give it as a gift, or personalize it and keep it for yourself. I hope this inspires you to get crafty this festive season. 

 

Trick or Treat Pumpkin Diorama - Deb Stephens

It's that time of year again where we get to indulge ourselves making quirky and kooky Halloween creations!

I used LOTS of Dusty Attic Chippy and other products to alter this Kmart paper mache pumpkin and turn it into a diorama!

The inside background was made with crackle paste and alcohol ink. 

DA0178 Bats 8pk were painted black and stuck onto it. I also assembled DA3124Haunted House #1 and DA3125 Haunted House #2, painted and embellished the roof's with black Quickcure clay, and dressed the windows. Glow in the dark paste was also applied. 

But the Stars of this show are the DA 3101 - Halloweenies #1! They are just so cute! They stand behind the DA0615 Tombstone borders I used as a fence. I also used Quickcure clay to sculpt the "tree" that edges the cut section of the Pumpkin. I embedded creepy eyes into this too.

Lights were added inside the diorama and DA1865 Web corners were glued together to make the front decking. DA1790 Wordpl@y #6-black gave me my trick or treat signage. The lights are great to highlight the small space inside, but also to charge up the glow in the dark paste that was applied. This photo isn't great, but it gives you the idea.

To dress the outside of the pumpkin, I cut the DA0183 Mini Bare Tree #2 in half and glued it to either side of the opening. 

I ran the rest of the Tombstone Border chipboard around the back of the pumpkin. 

 I also stenciled texture paste through the DA3062 Spooky face stencil, and finished with Waxes.

I dressed the top of the pumpkin with DA1460 Ivy Flourish, Black roses, Skulls, pumpkins and Spooky Tule fabric.

You are Braver - Deb Stephens

It's no secret, I LOVE stencils. They are a really versatile tool and can be used with simple and complex techniques. And the Boss Lady has made a bucket load of new ones and will be adding them to the website for purchase soon! They are amazing! 

I have used 2 new and 2 old stencils on my art journal page today.

This Art Journal Page was created using the October Dusty Attic Colour Combo inspiration as a prompt,  paint, 4 stencils and a few small background stamps.

Does it need to be hard and complicated? Does it need to take hours?

NO!

 Sometimes you just need a prompt to start somewhere so if the colour is decided, I just need my stencils and paint.

Making Memories - Deb Stephens - Sketch Inspiration

Hi everyone. Here is a scrapbook layout using the September sketch as inspiration. these photos were taken in Malaysia where I got to spend some time with my cousins having a coffee and a catchup, hence the travel theme.

I used a mixture of 49 & Market paper, rub- on's, Stitch frames, film strips and laser cuts along with some Dusty Attic Chippy to complete the layout.

DA3342 Making Memories was used for the main title, along with the Mini Blue Passports DA2965 (Seriously!! How cute is it!) 

I also used numbers from DA2389 Number Jumble for the year. this was followed up with the #Family piece from DA3299 Daily #3 set. 

I love the freedom of being able to create a layout using my stash and the Sketch as my guide. I'm hoping it inspires you to create as well.

Nod to Wednesday - Deb Stephens

This project was a nod to the Comedy Horror series, Wednesday, that Netflix released in 2022. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did and it inspired me to create this piece.

Stencil DA3576 (yet to be released) was used to apply texture to the sides of the canvas.  The bricks are a great sized small brick and the stencil is a welcome addition to my stash. 

DA2871 Brick Wall Border was painted and gritty texture added. 

DA3561 Alice elements #16 crooked branches,  and DA1344 – Lace Border #3  as the balcony were also painted and waxed. 

DA3117 – Zombie hands, DA3093 skull and bats and DA2224 Mini spiders were also painted and attached. The zombie hands set was great to create Thing!

I used DA0861 Alpha Set upper to spell out Nevermore Academy that was painted and glossed and attached around my fake stained glass window.
