Joy to the World - Adri Du Preez

 Hello everyone!

Welcome to the blog today.

My November design team layout features beautiful Dusty Attic Christmas chipboard pieces.

This layout features my granddaughter Mila.

I love using Wordpl@y on my layouts.  They are one of my favourite additions to a layout.

All the chippies were first primed with a layer of white acrylic paint and then painted with Americana Acrylic paint.

The stars were painted with Tuscan Red, Green Lagoon, and Sour Apple.  Once dry I covered them with glossy accents and sprinkled them with Ranger Stickles Fine Glitter in Christmas Red and Star Dust.

The title was painted with Tuscan Red and the mini captions with Green Lagoon then I dry brushed the edges with white acrylic paint.

What a cute Gnome and so much fun to paint!  I painted the hat with Tuscan Red and the shirt with Green Lagoon.  For the dungaree, I used a Posca Pen in Light Green. I painted the little nose with Dusty Rose and the edges of the white beard were dry-brushed with Slate Grey.

I painted the Christmas trees with Tuscan Red, Sour Apple, and Green Lagoon.  For the dots on the Gnome's hat and the Christmas trees, I used a white Posca Pen.

I lightly painted the holly with Festive Green and Hauser Light Green making sure I didn't cover the veins of the hollies.  The edges were dry brushed with white acrylic paint. The berries were painted with Tuscan Red. Once dry I covered them with glossy accents and sprinkled them with Ranger Stickles Fine Glitter in Christmas Red.

These Christmas Berries and the Holly Wreath were treated in the same manner as the red stars and the hollies.

The final touches to this layout included pearls, glitter, and splatters with diluted white gesso.

Merry Christmas - Deb Stephens

Who else gets excited about the magic of Christmas? I love the idea of it being cold and icy (especially as it is usually hot and dry here in Australia) which is what inspired this DT project.

The base was a chipboard banner that was given to us as a thankyou gift at the recent Dusty Attic Christmas retreat (if you have never been to one, put it on your Christmas list!)
I covered it with white brick pattern paper and then stenciled texture paste through the DA1490 Dots stencil.

White Gesso was applied to chipboard used (DADA2246 Poinsettia small, DA3137 Holly Wreath #2 and DA3206 Merry Christmas #3) and then painted or embossed.

There is lots of sparkle on this Mini banner with snow paste, art balls, flowers and glitter added to finish off.

I wish you all the very best for this Festive season and look forward to sharing more of my creations with you in 2023! Take care Dusty Fannatics.

December - New Mood Board - Jen Burns

Hello Everyone

Welcome to December, we are super excited as next week is the Dusty Attic Christmas retreat, lots of fun to be had with an amazing bunch of gorgeous ladies.

In the mean time we have Mood Board inspiration for us from

JEN BURNS

 "Christmas Wreath"

I started with Holy Wreath #1 and the berries painting them red, then moved on to the leaves with the lighter green.

Once totally dry I have used a coral colour to go around the lighter parts of the berries and a dark green up the stem to highlight the pattern. Then flicked watered down white paint to add splatters around the wreath.

The hanging baubles and bells have been spray painted white and the Christmas Berries #1have been painted with a plum colour.

I have added the whole piece to a sheet of clear acetate to then punch holes in the top so that I can hang it on my front door.

You can win one of two $50 (AUD) credits to the Dusty Attic website by adding your own take of the challenge. It is super easy, put your take on the board into the comments section on the Dusty FANattics Facebook page HERE.

Winter Delights - Mixed Media canvas - Kerstin Filou

Welcome creative friends!

Welcome into the new year,

wish you a year full of fun and joy in creative work !

It's wintertime here, cold, snow and ice have us again fully in the grip.
Snow shovelling is again announced, an occupation  not always great joy arises, our dog sees that but quite different, he is completely thrilled by the snow broom and would like to sit on top and push along.

I created a mixed media layout with lots of snow and ice crystals, not to forget a bird house, which is especially popular in winter in our garden.

I found a lot of suitable theme shapes at Dusty Attic,
love the 3d optic of the bird house and the nature inspired chippies.

I worked mainly with white gesso and added a few color accents with diluted blue acrylic paint and a little brown. I also used die-cuts, which together with the chipboards bring more vividness and fullness to the layout.
To bring more depth to the project, dried wood slices and branches were used.
