Remember - Svetlana Sanochkina - Mood Board Inspiration

Our first moodboard inspired me to create a romantic feeling mixed media layout.

Who doesn't have a picture of that typical 'Dad' moment? What joy our other halves bring! I figured it was time to get some of those off the computer and in the album so the family can see. This was on our way to a NYE Celebration in 2013 so we were both in good spirits and looking to be a little playful... Have a look below to see how I pulled it all together.

 

I primed the card stock with clear gesso, this one is from 13@rts. I always do this when working with wet medium. Its a fail safe in case I go overboard. If I have a heavy handed moment it can wipe straight off. Yeah for baby wipes!! In order to have the Lindy's spray grip to the page I added some stenciling with modelling paste. This catches the liquid when I am moving the page around to create drips. It also helps to catch the shimmer pigment and gives it a great highlight.

  I added some crayons to highlight areas in the background. I have water soluble crayons in many different brands. To be honest, they are all similar in colour but so different in practice. Without naming names, some are softer and easy to blend with water, others are harder and work more like pencils and leave shadows. In the background here I used Gelato's. 

 

 

I spent some time fussy cutting the flowers off another sheet of 13@rts cardstock and used some Prima Crayons to colour in the flowers. I love these because they are super soluble and totally disappear when activated without leaving lines. Once dry I went back in with the same colour crayon and added some contrast.

I created matts for my photos... I haven't done this for a while but I really enjoy torn edges and staining them with ink. I think it gives a real randomness to the distressed edge and I find inking them with an ink pad leaves too much white. I used the same spray that I used in the background to tie the foreground.

I decided to go with using black chipboard on this layout. I used a pallet knife to spread the paint on the skeleton clock. It applies patchy and adds to the distressed look. Once I ran out of paint I could pick up on my brush I picked up my mat and rubbed it straight onto the clock to use up the remainder.

I used some Prima waxes to highlight the chipboard so it wasn't flat black. Everyone loves a bit of shimmer right?

I used a dry brush to add some contrast to the arrows as they seemed to get lost on the page.

Cherish Always - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these trying times. Today I have created a layout with the March moodboard.

 Aren't these colours beautiful? Here is the my take on the challenge with photos of my gorgeous daughter

I love the blue, pink and browns of this moodboard. I have used the Mintay Papers Harmony range for this layout. I have painted all my chipboard, starting with first with the Skeleton clock faces, using the larger clock, and cutting it in half, have painted this in brown and adhered to the top of my page. The leaves are Tropical Foliage no 6 and have been painted with Dusty in Colour Denim paint and arranged under the photos.

I have selected the words "cherish always" from the Mini Words #1 set of titles and painted these in brown.

A Perfect Moment - Belinda Spencer - Mood Board inspiration

Hello Dusty FANattics!!

Belinda here today to share my layout based on the July Mood Board.

'A Perfect Moment'

The colours in the mood board this month are just stunning!!

Here's a peek at the inspiration:

I added a pretty blue watercolour effect to my background paper using some watercolour paint. Next I painted the leftover negative frame from the Star Banner with some heavy white gesso. I added some layers of patterned paper behind the banner and stuck down on my page.

I added layers of patterned paper and my photo on the right hand side of the page. Then I created a title using the Perfect Moment title along with letters from the Teeny Tiny ABC Set and a word from the Mini Words # 1. I coloured the 'Perfect Moment' with Cranberry Dusty In Coloour paint, the 'remember' with heavy white gesso and the remaining letters with a blue Posca paint pen.

The arrow was painted with the same Cranberry paint and the mini stars were covered with the gesso.

Hi everyone!

Here is my lastest layout with Dusty Attic chipboard. I got inspired by the April Challenge on More Than Words blog.

I used fabulous PASTEL colors like the little chicks in the picture. To illustrate the inspiration word, I choosed a picture of my boy when he was a BABY.

First of all, I primed my background with clear gesso. I create some texture with modeling paste stenciled on my paper. After that, I primed all of my chipboard with white gesso and I glued all of my pieces. 

Then, I created a watercolor background with my Lindy's ink.

Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

Belinda here today to share my take on the gorgeous August mood board.

I was totally inspired by the lovely soft blues and cream in the inspiration image as well as some of the fabulous NEW RELEASE chipboard for my layout.

'Love'

I really do love to be inspired by a mood board. For me the best part is the treasure hunt through my stash to find the right coloured papers and embellishments. I set myself the challenge of using the stunning Windows and Shutters chipboard on this layout. I really loved the look of it combined with the Hanging Vines chipboard as a window box. 

I added the cute Skeleton Fish as a whimsical touch especially with the photo of my darling Burmese Noodle. Strangely she doesn't even like fish and refuses to eat it!! Weird cat.

I painted the Windows and Shutters, Hanging Vines and the fabulous Fancy Frame # 10 (underneath my stack of layers) with white gesso followed by Cashmere Dusty In Colour. I added a bit of white gesso on top of the window and shutters too for a shabby chic finish. I always use a latex make-up wedge to apply my paint as it gives a lovely smooth finish free from brushstrokes or loose paintbrush hairs. You can also daub the paint on with it for a more textured look.

I used both the NEW Burlap Stencil as well as the Leaves # 3 Stencil on the background paper with the Cashmere paint. It added nicely to the texture that was already part of the patterned paper.

I painted the title first with white gesso and then with Faded Denim Dusty In Colour paint.

I created lots of layers with my papers and chipboard elements and tucked some of the gorgeous Dusty In Bloom flowers under the edges. I finished with some cute Mini Hearts that I painted white using my trusty Posca Paint Pen and some little paw prints cut from a patterned paper.
