Perfect - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn

Hello Dusty FANattics

And just like that a quarter of the year has gone - and we just had a wee reminder from Mother Nature that winter is approaching - it sure has been quite chilly here in New Zealand.

Here is my project for April

All chipboard pieces were first prepped with white gesso. Once the gesso was dry, I started with the frames first by spraying them lightly with water. I used a posco pen to colour these frames - they react with water like acrylic paints - and I dabbed dots of colour and let the colour "bleed" into the water droplets. The infinity piece (flourish with the heart) DA3248 and the two monarch butterflies DA2385 were coloured with a combination of 2 coloured Posco pens as a solod colour.

I stacked the frames and adhered these to the page with foam tape. The gesso'd leaves DA1870 were also coloured with a green Posco pen. Once this was dry, I then dribbled glimmer mist spray over the leaves. Once these were dry, I then adhered them around and under the frames before layering the fussy cut flowers and leaves.

I created a cluster for the title DA2575 "Perfect" - also using chippy leaves and layering fussy cut pieces. The title was painted with Art Alchemy Metallique paint.

Vintage hand Mirror tag - Deb Stephens

Hello Everyone and Welcome to February (ALREADY??)

Here I am sharing my February mood board inspiration with you. Using various Dusty Attic Chipboard, I tried to replicate a vintage hand held mirror that would show me an inspirational message when I looked into it.

Using the DA1480 Distressed Diamonds Stencil first on the base with crackle texture paste gave a starting point.

I used the inner frame form the DA1467 Ornate frame set to form the head of the mirror and some leftover plain chipboard sheet to fashion the handle.

I also used DA0819 Monarch butterflies and DA3349 Botanic Mix #4 to layer up in between the resin embellishments.

To complete the project, I used a quote from the DA2583 Quoted Sentiments Black #3 to stick to the 'mirrored' face.

A moment Captured - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello there,

My layout today is inspired by the March moodboard

I love the calmness this moodboard portrays and looks so peaceful and beautiful. Here is my layout

I started the layout first with adding strips of black and grey paper pieces larger than the photo. Then I added matt gel to this and went over this with white gesso. Once this was dry I added various blends of ink over this and when this was dry added some stamping. I then adhered the photo and layers of paper behind and stuck down the flower cluster.

The chipboard leaves (DA2897) were coloured with metallic waxes. These were added to the flowers once the flowers were stuck down.

The same wax was applied the delight definition (DA2997)

The butterfly (DA2385) was also coloured with the same metallic wax

For the title I used the wording "a moment" from DA2045 and the word "captured" was made up from the lean ABC set (DA2697) - I did this as I needed the narrower letters for where I was placing my title. The title was first painted with a metallic grey paint and then brushed over with black paint. Once this was dry, I added glossy accents to the letters

To finish off I added some mini art stones mixed with grey ink. I also added some pearl flourishes.

Simply Perfect - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Attic fans

Back with the Dusty Attic moodboard inspiration - lovely calming colours for this month.

And here is my layout that I have created from this moodboard:

This is a Simple Stories paper collection that I have used to create my layout. I first cut some papers and arranged these to the centre of the paper, before adding the framed photo to the centre. I then painted the Two Strong Hearts chipboard (DA2656) with Dusty in Colour Pesto paint and added this to the corner of the photo frame before creating the cluster of fussy cut flowers.

The leaves DA2636, were then painted in a darker green paint, adding some gold paint to the edges. Once dry, I stamped these with a script stamp. I then inserted these under the flower cluster

The butterfly (DA2385) was painted with a light brown metallique paint and adhered to the corner of the frame, adding the fussy cut butterflies around this.

The title "Simply Perfect" (DA2509) was also painted in the same darker green paint, brushed over with gold paint and then stamped with a script stamp.

The title also includes two little slides with some hearts cut out of the bottom piece. I have tucked these under the photo frame

I finished off adding some sequins to the page. I love the sun shining through the leaves of the moodboard, so I thought the sequins represented that quite well.

Dream - Kristy Abela - Mood Board Inspiration

Hi Dusty FanAttic's

Where has this year gone! Its time for me to start thinking about gifts for Christmas. I really struggle to find cost effective and unique gifts so I often make my own. I used this mood board to put together a bouquet canvas for one of the lucky ladies in my life. I can't tell you who, but I will let you know if she liked it come New Year.

I used some techniques I learned from doing an online course with Laly Millie. She reminded me that I hadn't use my canvases as much as I used to. So I pulled one out and got busy.
