Amour - Nicole Doiron

 

Hello Dusty FANattics!

 

It's Nicole and I'm in the mood for love! :) 

 

I recently went to the wedding celebration of 2 of my best friends, and I thought it would be special to create a canvas for them to remember this special day.

 

The canvas is 16 inches by 20 inches. I covered it with a coat of clear gesso,

 

and then used 2 different Dusty Attic stencils, Damask #2 and Large Dot, to add some texture and design to the base with modeling paste and several coats of inks, sprays and paints.

Since my friends are francophones, I used a saying from the French Wordplay, the Ensemble Amour set, as well as the word 'moments' from the Mini Tags #3 which has the same meaning in both languages.

 

Working with such a large surface, I thought it would be awesome to use several of the beautiful Fancy Frames. I added a few smaller frames from the Frame Medley. 

 

 

I wanted to keep them all elegant and classy and part of the background, so I used white embossing powder and white acrylic paint on them.

 

 

In the above image you see two Ornate Pendants colored in black.

 

 

On the words I used paprika colored embossing powder to match the orange and royal blue colour palette, which you can guess were also the wedding colours. I decorated with some Baroque Flourishes and black Decorative Dots.

 

I went a bit crazy with the flowers!  I love how there is no limit when working with canvases... you can use some of the biggest and thickest flowers in your staff because there's no limit!

 

 

I always get very nervous when creating a project as a gift, but I do love how this turned out, and my friends loved it as well.

Remember Today - Farrel Tailor

Hello Everyone, Farrel here for my second design team share and today I am sharing an altered frame I created. I recently taught this frame for the lovely ladies up at Bruce Rock.

I used a Kaisercraft frame and applied Stamperia sand texture paste for the base. Then covered the frame and all the chipboard with The Crafter's Workshop Black Gesso.

I sprayed some of the chipboard with Prima Color Bloom Sprays - Fir Needles and Magic Stone. Then I rubbed Nuvo Embellishment Mouse in Powder Blue and Seaspray Green over the top.

Once all adhered I then used Art Alchemy waxes in White Gold and Green Brocade to add highlights. Then finished it off with some beads.

Hamsa - Anat Weksler

Hello Dusty Friends!

Anat here, with my first project for June - an Altered Hamsa (or Hand of Fatima). 

"The hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa and commonly used in jewlery and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand,  used as a sign of protection providing defense against the evil eye."

The gorgeous Baby Pendants inspired me to alter this Hamsa for a Baby room.

In this project I used chipboards, both, for the background - to support the composition, and as my focal point.

I believe you already noticed that I can't do without one of the beautiful ATC frames it wasn't different here! I used it in the focal point to highlight  the gorgeous pendant.

Hello Dusty Attic followers!!

Today it`s my turn to give you some inspiration.

I created a layout in dark colors, inspired by the photo of Helena Christensen.

This time I tried few different ways to give my chipboards texture.

My sweet blooms were first coated with some Graphite texture paste.

After that a coat of white gesso and then I colored them with Midnight Sky acrylic paint from Finnabair. I did add just a little brush of Old Silver Wax and a touch of white gesso with a sponge on  top.

This beautiful pendant was first embossed with Stampendous Shabby Green Embosssing Enamel. Then I covered it with Brushed Iron Wax.

The final step was to cover my white spots, so I used Midnight Sky again.

I brushed lightly the edges of my title with Old Silver Wax.

My arrows were treated with the Grey color out of Military Set Pastes by Finnabair.

Then some waxes again.
