Romantic Steampunk Box - Anat Weksler

 Hello friends!

It's Anat here with a new project using fabulous Dusty Attic's chipboards.

I've altered another box, this time in a Romantic Steampunk style.

I lined the Box with beautiful papers from Craft O'clock brand.

The chipboards were colored with impasto paints and rubbed with metalique waxes.

here are the gorgeous chippies used in this project:

Adventure Bound - Rikki G - Sketch Inspiration

Good morning how are you ? I am here for Dusty Attic and I have a very grunge layout for you today based on the the sketch challenge.

Which you still have time to enter and also the moodboard and the sketch challenge which will give you the chance to win an amazing $50 Voucher.

Here's is a reminder of what the sketch looks like:

So the key to getting the water colour effect is a little patience, with the chipboard being sprayed with white spray paint you need to let it dry naturally and keep building up the colour.

Don't heat with a heat gun, firstly because it gives off a toxic fume and it wont allow the water to get in between layers to give it a weathered effect.

My background layer started with Barb Wire Fence and then I added photos over the top of it.

The next piece added was the Industrial Cluster #1, under the right hand side of the photo.

Now its about using pieces of the Triangle Panel, just use small sections over the background.

To add more depths to the layout, use pieces from Cogs and Gears.

Dont forget to add some art stones and of course more paint to tie everything together.

So why dont you get a little bit messy, till next time, have a creative day.

All you need to do is add your take of the challenge into the comments section on the Dusty FANattics Facebook page HERE for your chance to win one of two amazing $50 Credits to choose any.

Good Luck and have fun creating.

Every photo tells story - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hi there,

I am sharing a canvas I created for the February moodboard

I drew inspiration off the circular macrons, and the edges of the lace under the coffee cup and thought that this reminded me of gears and I created this canvas
The canvas is covered with a prima tissue paper, then covered with matt gel. When this was dry I added crackle paste and when that was dry I used the the Distressed Grid Stencil DA1538 and used this in places with modelling paste.
All the chipboard was prepared with black gesso.
I used a combination of gears - DA2734, DA2744, DA2859 and DA2864, as well as industrial clusters DA3374 and DA3377. I also used Industrial Globes DA2184, mini film strips DA2511, layered bolts DA2880 and the small distressed frame DA2872.

I first started layering the gears and bolts and built these up in the left bottom corner and top right corner, building these up to create clusters of gears.
Once this was all layered, and the frame was added, I started dabbing all the cogs with ARTalchemy waxes in browns and iron colours - using a round paint brush, until all the black gesso was covered. The title DA1783"every photo tells a story" was added last.

These are the products I have used:

Thanks for visiting the blog today. And why not take part in the March moodboard challenge and post your entry to the Facebook DustyFANattics page.

Till next time,
Michelle
