Art Journal page - Mood Board Inspiration - Heather McMahon

Hello and welcome back to the Dusty Attic! It's Heather McMahon here today and I have an art journal page to share with you.

All the paint on the background is from The Dusty Attic. I just love the colours!

On the right page I've predominantly used Dusty in Colour Cashmere paint. I adore this colour - it really speaks to me. I've used paint pens to create the journaling and doodling. Doodling is so much fun!

I've coated the Swirly Heart with Tinby Designs Metallic Melts for that cool, grungy finish. Underneath the heart I've used a Dusty Attic butterfly stencil to help create movement across the page. The angular white highlights are created using gesso through a Dusty Attic Crosshatch stencil.

Altered Paintbrush - Joanne Bain

Hello!!

Joanne here with you today my altered paintbrush. For this one I was so inspired by this months Dusty moodboard colours again. Honestly with this one I just allowed my creative freedom to flow. I am a very fussy scrapper and am not happy with my projects until I feel everything is in place and I can honestly say now I think it is...lol.

So this is my paintbrush...

'Dream'

Buckets loads of Dusty dimension, just the way I like it!

I water distressed and pulled apart the layers of some of the chipboard, while with others I left totally natural. Most of the chipboard was given a really good inking with dark brown ink.

To create the gorgeous shimmery blue and brown I used some of the gorgeuos Finnabair Mica Powders mixed with gel medium.

To add extra texture I added lots of neutral coloured cotton thread and then added just a touch of lovely vibrant blue thread to tie it all in. I added a little frayed cheesecloth to the background as well.

I topped the brush off by layering some Finnabair Grungy Butterflies and then added a Dusty title which I left in its natural state.

To finish my brush off I added a sprinkling of micro beads and some of the super cute Dusty Mini Butterflies.

So Pretty - Helena Johannson

Hi! Helena here today, sharing a card I made.

One thing I love about Dusty Attic (and there are many things I love about DA!!) is that you can combine practically any chippies! When I create, I keep my Dusty Attic chipboard in large boxes, but I also have a little box on my desk, where I put the smaller pieces. When I started with this card, I decided to use an arch from the Arch Window #2 and an Indian Arrow. Maybe not the first chipboard pieces you would thought of to combine, but they went perfect together!

I painted the chippies white, and then misted them with gold and pink mist. From the Indian Arrow you only see the feathers, of course I had to put some flowers on the card :)

I finished my page off with some Dusty pearls. Love these!!

OCTOBER 2016

You know its getting to the business end of the year when the month turns to "double digits" !

September bought another new release, gorgeous new stencils (awesome for art journaling) and new Chippy with a huge Face Book competition.

THEN we also went away for Jennifer Hedger "the Boss's" Birthday Bash, as a surprise all of the DT did gorgeous layouts which we put together as a gift for Jen. She was actually SPEECHLESS !
(I will share all the layouts on the blog, most of the girls did a blog hop and have shared them already.)

THEN Jen did a few more new designs and put them on the website, one of which is called "Crazy Stitching" .... I LOVE this one, gives the impression of stitching without actually pulling a thread or sitting at a machine !

ALSO we have GREAT CONCEPT coming out soon and we have been busy doing up some samples so watch out for them as well !

Might have to twist the Bosses arm for another give-a-way
