" The Peaceful Heart" Layout by DT Vicky Alberto

Vicky blogging today... I decided to try something a little different and extend the "collage" Dusty Attic theme that we used on our ATC projects this month - to create a manly layout in honour of Father's day that just passed. I used the last bits of my June Swirlydoos "Brass Shilling" kit and a picture of my husband from our trip to Europe (11 years ago - I just can't remember if this photo was taken in France or Italy).

I used the brand new small filmstrips chipboard set and joined them together to create a railroad effect at the top of my page and tucked a piece of the large skeleton clock under the corrugated cardboard. Next, I cut the chipboard title in half and placed it in two parts on my layout. I used a mini lamp post too and placed it right onto my picture (simply covered it with black DA "soot" paint and clear crackle varnish).

To finish the chipboard, I used inks on the filmstrips and clock and then used gesso and DA "Navajo" white paint on the title. I also dry brushed the paint on the corrugated cardboard. Behind the flowers are some DA paper rose leaves too (love these!).

I used the awesome June DA sketch, created by Mistra, as an inspiration point for this layout. Don't forget to enter the monthly sketch challenge for a chance to win some chipboard goodness! See details on the Dusty Attic NING.

"Creative Dreams" & Tip by Vicky Alberto DT

Hello Dusty Fans, Vicky blogging here and I am so very excited to share my very first DT project post with you today. I thought it would be fitting to do a layout about achieving a creative dream of mine... which is designing for this fantastic company.

I have used the decorative scroll #1 and cut it into several pieces. I painted it with several gorgeous colours from the brand new "Dusty in Colour" release of acrylic paints. I simply splattered it all to give it an artsy feel.

Next I used some mini words for the title (again swiping here and there with dusty paints) and then added a pretty butterfly from the newly released chipboard styles. I also added several "Dusty in Bloom" flowers too!

FAUX REVERSE CRACKLE (technique used on the butterfly):
Step 1 - Generously stipple gesso onto chipboard and let dry (the paint "peaks" with settle a bit).
Step 2 - Let completely dry.
Step 3 - Dip your finger into chalk ink and gently rub over the textured bumps

This layout was inspired by the fantastic Dusty Attic January sketch. Don't forget to enter each month for a change to win some beautiful products!
