There's no place like gnome - Patricia Basson

Hi and Hello to all...

Today I am sharing a fun little project for the September Moodboard Challenge at Dusty Attic.

Using four different sizes from the Tag Medley sheet, I created this wall Hanging with the cutest little Gnomes!

Although there is a lot going on on the Tags, the treatment of the chipboard is not that complicated. I covered the Tags with two papers from 49 & Market's Vintage Artistry Essentials collection, Savor and Essence. I inked the edges with Potting Soil Archival Ink ~lol, no that was not purposely, totally coincidentally~, and Vintage Antiquing Paste from Stamperia.

I gesso'd all the Chipboards. On the Vase, Juliette Balcony and Inside piece of the Brick Window, I applied white cackling paste. Once it was dried and crackled I panted them with Ivory and Cappuccino Allegro Paint also from Stamperia. I once again used the Antiquing Paste to bring out the cracks and add an aging effect to the pieces.

I painted some Antiquing Paste onto the raw Bicycle Chain chipboard. I glued a piece of acetate to the back of the windows and colored it with Cappuccino Glitter Accents and Rose Gold Metallic Alloy Alcohol inks from Couture Creations.

The Grasses and Mini Foliage were all painted with Ivory, Cappuccino and Earth Paints. I also embossed them with an Irredesant Sparkle embossing powder. The gorgeous Moon was covered with Gold River Leafing from Mont Marte...Just love how beautiful it looks!

The two adorable Gnomes were painted using a Watercolor set from 13@rts.

I sadly did not take a side view photo to show all the layering that was done! Even the Beards of the Gnomes are layered.

I added Flowers, Rub-on Transfers and Wishing Bubbles and Trinkets from Vintage Artistry Essentials as well.

Love you to the moon and back - Rikki G

Good morning how are you? Do you find that seasons/ weather finds its way in your creating? I do and I am a huge fan of the wet, wild and windy winters.... I love walking on the beach when the wind is at full pelt.

So like my first post which was based on the beach, neutral tones of summer, this canvas was inspired by the wild, winter we have had in Western Australia.

Nothing like blending some industrial elements with the softness of some flowers and of course some key Dusty Attic Chipboard.

This canvas started out with some amazing hope and what got translated from my head into reality.... ohhhhhh where to start.

I wanted a moody piece instead of something bright, so I went against my normal colour combos.

Its one of those perseverance stories and I am happy I did, it nearly ended in the bin. I stuck everything down started adding colour and just couldnt get it right, thought why not just spray paint everything back to white.....

This is the time the wheels fell off.... the under colour didnt block it kept coming up over the spray paint.

Ok so clearly I have no choice is to embrace this... now I have huge white spots and denim blue colours... feeling like I cant stuff it up any more.... I add silver... this is when I am thinking about throwing it the bin....

We will see if a good night sleep will change my mind.

Once the colours have dried, a purple tone appeared, so why not go with the flow and add lilac to the palette.

This is when the winter, cold, icy tones started to work.... and this is when an accident became a stunning canvas. All it needs is to make it a bit more feminine, the Nunkea Moon was added.

The moon added to the curves of the cogs and added a softer feel, and all it needed was some lilac splattered on the white spray painted moon to tie it to the background.

To finish off a nice, crisp white title and the canvas is complete.

So while your creating just push through worst case spray it white and start again.

I'm writing to you today filled with dark sadness. I've had a very tough weekend behind me, despite strenuous attempts to think positively, unfortunately nothing comes of it. The person I knew has gone missing and unfortunately this story did not end successfully...

Writing to you always calms me down, so now I'll present you a goodbye card for friends. Moving is the moment when many things are closed, certain relationships, sometimes even friendships, end. I've already moved from Poland to England 8 years ago. To this day I feel the effects in the form of lost contacts, longing for my favourite places and loved people.. Each decision has its consequences...

Lynette here, welcome to the blog today. I have the pleasure of sharing some inspiration for September. I used some photos of my youngest grandson doing what he loves most...behind the steering wheel of Daddy's car. As you can see in the photos, he does look rather pleased with himself. I used patterned papers from the Heidi Swapp Carefree collection.

I wanted to create a scene in nature. I painted the sun and clouds with acrylic paint.

The little compass was dry brushed with beige acrylic paint to give it a washed out look.

The quoted sentiments were also dry brushed with beige acrylic paint and the trees were painted and shaded. The "daily" words were heat embossed with light blue embossing powder.

The blueprint word and the two arrows were heat embossed in gold to match some of the other gold elements on the page.
