Shadow Box - Patricia Basson

Today I am sharing a shadow box with you filled with gorgeous Dusty Attic Chippies. It is my April DT project for Dusty Attic .
I started by covering the box with gauss that was dipped in Tokreen to stiffen it. I then painted it all with Dusty Paints, a mix of Navajo White and Gingernut. As matting behind my photo there is some of Dusty Attic's Corrugated Card.

The bricks are the insides of the Brick Wall Panel. To get this lovely texture I dabbed on some coarse Texture Paste, I then embossed with Ranger Distress Embossing Powder: Brushed Corduroy and Rust Antiquities. Also edged with some black ink.

The Ivy Corner was painted with the following Dusty colours...Navajo White, Gingernut, Pesto and Cranberry. The leaves also have a little coarse Texture Paste on them.

Ohhhh...This Chandelier just has to be my favourite object on this project! I absolutly love the effect I achieved with the Rust Powder this time. I first primed the piece with Gesso. Then I coloured it with several Alcohol Inks, mainly red and rust colours. Only after the colouring did I add the Rust Powder and vinegar. I did a few layers to get a good rust effect. I masked the candles and Jewels before hand. They were coloured with paints.

I painted the Grass Clusters and Mini Grass Clusters  with Navajo White, Pesto and Forest Paints and embossed them with Aged Green Embossing Enamel from Stampendous. I also added the new Mini Art Stones from Prima and some wood chips from my stash.

Here are the links to the products used from the Dusty Attic Store...

Every time I imagine a garden in an architectural setting,
it turns into a magical place.
I think of gardens I have seen,
that I believe I have seen,
 that I long to see,
surrounded by simple walls,
 columns,
arcades or the façades of buildings,
sheltered places of great intimacy
where I want to stay for a long time.

Love - Maggie Armstrong - Mood Board inspiration

Pale lavenders, alabaster whites and en trend teals, these colours represent Aprils mood board.  I think I could look at these dreamy pictures all day!!

When my daughter was 3 I took her to visit a lavender farm in the Waikato.  It was pure beauty.  Row upon row of lavender, buzzing with sleepy drunk bees, interspersed with old gnarly old olive trees, it was a scrapbookers heaven!!!  I have used one of the photos in my layout this month as it fit the bill just perfectly!

I used the DA1502 Federation Frame as the basis to work upon.  Painted with a coat of DA Alabaster White paint and backed with white muslin.

I also painted up the DA1001 Lavender set, using DA Lavender Blush, DA Pesto, and DA Denim.  A smattering of Dusty in Bloom flowers and the word 'Love' trimmed from the MC#6 Live Laugh Love set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to check the Dusty Attic blog for your daily dose of inspiration!

April 2016

Happy APRIL everyone, I was going to start with the news of Dusty Attic closing down, as an "APRIL FOOLS JOKE" however I'm sure our Design Team and "the Boss" Jennifer Hedger would not find it funny!
In saying that I have now warned you and I hope you don't get caught out !! hehehe

We had a retreat last month at the Muresk Institute  - WOW we all had such an amazing time, the food was amazing, and the company was above brilliant !! I was laughing so much at one stage I thought my sides where going to split.  I adore when like minded people get together and just have an absolute blast.  I really cant wait for the next one.
Oh no, wait, there are the weeks of packing kits and the like before that isn't there??? It is worth all of the work that the girls do just for those four days !

Now without a further "a do" I would like to thank everyone that entered the March mood board, I have to say the DT where split in their voting this month! Don't forget though there is a prize at the end of the year for the person who has entered the most mood board challenges.

Here are some close ups...
I love to do distressed paper layers on my projects. This shows some of the layers, I also did some hand stitching. I painted the leaves of the foliage with DA mountain meadow, let dry (DA paints dry fast) then I applied a thick coat of clear crackle. Once the crackle dried I dry brushed on some DA Alabaster paint, to soften the color, & give the leaves 2 tones... One the seeds of the wild flower I altered using the lavender blush & sugar plum, then applied the DA clear gloss...
I painted the tile & flower, with alternating, DA Lavender Blush & sugar plum. I then applied the crackle on to the flower, let dry, then dry brushed on the DA Alabaster...
Shows stencil work using the DA Creative Script Stencil & DA Texture paste & doily's under the flower of the leafy scroll...
The larger flowers are Prima, & the others are IamRoses
I glued on some seed beads on to the Vine Frame...

Thank you so much for taking the time to look, & I am looking forward to seeing, what you come up with, with this months Mood Board...Rachelle
