Beach - Belinda Spencer - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello Dusty Attic fans!

It's Belinda here today to share with you my layout inspired by the October Mood Board.

'BEACH' Layout

How gorgeous are these colours?!! Definitely my kind of colours and I thought perfect for a beach layout.

I gathered up all of my beach inspired chipboard pieces and painted them all white with my usual three coats of heavy white gesso. After they were completely dry, I also went over the top with a white Posca Pen for extra crispness.

I used a Pilot Pintor Paint Pen in Light Blue to colour part of the title and the geo tags. Then I layered them all on top of my background along with my patterned paper stack, my photo and some flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I do hope you are feeling inspired to play along with the mood board this month too.

Cheers
Belinda

Hello Summer - Kristy Abela - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hi Dusty Attic lovers....

I was lucky enough to live beside the beach for six years and one of the things I noticed was the grommets hanging down by the river rather than in the surf late in the day. On the East Coast the beach often gets 'blown out' in the afternoon and the surf can be hit n miss. This pic reminded me of the carefree days of evening walks with my boys along the V-wall who thought everything that came out of the ocean was a treasure; and for their Mum, the Cancerian Crab, who believes that the ocean is far more magical at night than the day.

To create this bit of magic I added a spattering of stars in Gold Paste and used a brayer to calm the middle of the page. I didn't want the darkness to dominate . See the pencil mark, that was to act as a guide for my image.

I added some script stamping to put back into the background what the gesso had taken out and used a texture stamp in a light blue to add some interest.

I coloured my chipboard with chalk paint and added some embossing powder to my nets in places to add a weathered look. For my Gecko's I painted them with a thick coat of paint and then used my heat tool to make them bubble and let them cool. This adds a great textured look, perfect for reptiles.

Once I was happy I put all my elements together. Have a look at these close ups for the full effect.

Thanks for stopping by to have a look and I hope you get to find a little moonlight magic at the beach.

Here is a list with links to the chipboard I used on the layout to help inspire you.
Till next time... Hugz from me!

Precious - Kerstin Filou - Mood Board Inspiration

Welcome Dusty Attic friends!

Now it's my turn to feature a layout using the
beautiful Dusty Attic Moodboard for October.

As I saw our monthly moodboard of course a sea layout was inevitable for me :-)

Actually I always associate this theme with hot sunny days, but the autumn by the sea also has something very special. You can watch cranes making a stopover at the baltic sea on their flight route, or deer standing in brackish water during the rut.

A quiet but especially attractive time at the baltic sea, a flat inland sea.

some close up's

Precious Moments in Time

An awesome combination of single and connected letters, so you can arrange the font very individually on the layout

I love to use 'Wheathered Wood' (DecoArt)
a crackle medium as base for the chippies
it creates an very special used look

Wildgrass #2

Grass Cluster #1

for more texture and structure you can use

some Mini Art Stones (Prima) as well as Decosand

Old Wooden Fence #2

you don't always have to use the whole chipboard part,

often it is enough to use only a fragment

We are looking forward to see what you come up with this months challenge.
Just put your own take of the challenge in the comments section of the Dusty FANattics facebook page HERE

You could win one of two amazing Dusty Attic prize packs.

I hope I could inspire you!
Thanks for your visit!

Happiness - Joanne Simons - Mood Board Inspiratiion

Hello and welcome back to the blog.

We have another stunning moodboard this month to play with.  Gee wizz the Boss does a terrific job with these!

Lets have a look

Not bad hey?  All those beautiful blues and teal tones.

I created a layout.

To start I added some distress oxide ink and a strip of paper to some white cardstock.  I'm not really a wizz with the whole mixed media thing so if I can get some paper that is done for me already, Im one happy camper!

I then coloured my chipboard with ink.  I'm using the Card Deco inks by Couture Creations.  I love using these inks.  They are a pigment ink with a shimmer in so they are also wonderful for heat embossing too!

I used 2 of the iron garnish chipboard border to create a bit of a feature just above me photo and then using the mystic flourish and of course a doily - I made the cluster to the left of the photo.

I didnt go over the top with the embellishing on this layout.  I find that when I use small photos (3inch x 4 inch) and I add a good size focal cluster sometimes thats enough.  Otherwise I feel like the embellishing takes over the photo.

Here are a couple of close ups

Kept the title simple too using one of the words from the Wordpl@y sets.

I hope I have inspired you to have a go at the moodboard.  Have a go.  There is is some wonderful prizes up for grabs, all you need to do is add your own take of the challenge into the comments section in the Dusty FANattics Facebook page HERE

I feel so lucky that I am able to design chipboard for my own scrapbook layouts. Here are a couple of layouts that I have created using these new designs. I have painted my lemons and bees using Dusty Attic Sunshine Paint, blossoms in white paint and leaves in Versamark Spanish Olive Ink (available in the Dusty Attic Retreat Shop).

Wishing Bubbles-Cotton Candy
Other Elements used:Clear Gesso, Clear Crackle Paint, Prima Waxes: Lucky Emerald, Old Denim, Peacock, Blue Lagoon, & Vintage Silk, Bling, Corrugated Paper....Here are a few close ups....

For the background I ripped pieces from the top & bottom of the Tattered Garden sheet & glued ripped pieces of the corrugated paper & the Fishnet Border into the layers.....
I primed the chipboard pieces with the clear gesso, then applied a thick coat of the crackle paint onto some of the pieces. Once the crackle had dried I played with blending in the waxes listed above. On this LO I did not use any flowers in the clusters, I just built layers with assorted chipboard pieces....Here are a few more close ups....
Thank you so much for taking the time to look & I am looking forward to see what you come up with this months challenge .....Rachelle
