Remember Today - Lynette Jacobs

Lynette here, welcome to the blog today. I have the pleasure of sharing some inspiration for August.  My favourite place is the beach.  This photo documents our first visit to the beach when restrictions were lifted in February 2021. I used papers from the Penelope Dee Paradise collection.  So good to feel the sand between our toes again.

Some close up details:
I used a very simple design for this page and went back to one of my passions...that is stitching on my pages.  The seagulls were painted with white acrylic paint.

This mini jelly fish are just adorable.  I painted it with white acrylic paint and then just added touches of blue and pink to it.

The fish net was painted with acrylic brown paint and the sea grass and shells were first painted white and then with touches of pink and blue acrylic paint.  The title was heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Again the fish net was painted with brown acrylic paint and the shells and seagull with white acrylic paint the shells were touched with blue and pink paint and the seagull was shaded with Oxide ink in Hickory Smoke.

Mini Metal Boxes - Anat Weksler - Mood Board Inspiration

  Hello friends!

It's Anat here. I'm  back today with my Moodboard inspired project - a duo of mini metal boxes.

Isn't this Moodboard gorgeous and absolutely inspiring?! I love these shades of Blue together and the seashells just wow! So I grabbed some beautiful chippies, sprayed them with different Lindy's Sprays and Rubbed with Finnabair's waxes.

On the lid I adhered Papers I'm obsesed with (LOL) from Mixed Media Craft O'clock.

If you're inspired by this, it is still time to join the challenge and maybe win a prize.

The chipboards I've used:

Mischief - Lynette Jacobs - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Attic Fans!

Lynette here, welcome to the blog today. I am sharing my take on the January mood board. The mood board just shouts beach and I used a funny photo of my husband and grandson taken on a walking trail at Robberg Nature reserve in Plettenburg Bay.

Here is the mood board:
Chipboard pieces used to complete the page:

Word pack #6

Some close up details:
I used white cardstock and applied some Weathered Wood Distress Ink through a stencil to break the white background.  I then cut apart a sheet of patterned paper with slats and threaded twine through it to create the image of a board walk.  I painted the tropical foliage with a green to match the leaves in the fussy cut images.
I used foam tape and layered the fussy cut images for dimension.

The title was heat embossed with Navy blue embossing powder.

The mini skeleton fish and compass was dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

Here I also used lots of foam dots to create dimension and layered the painted chipboard pieces between the fussy cut pieces.

I brought in more of the dark blue by adding Nuvo Crystal drops to the clusters.

I just love all the dimension...the fussy cutting was so worth the time it took.

We would love to see your take on our moodboard.  Don't forget to share your projects on our Facebook page.

FUN Times - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello lovelies

The moodboard for January is so appropriate for January here in NZ - reminder of summer days and the beach - we have had some really great summer days over the holidays, and have done a few days on the beach.

The colours and the photo of the moodboard inspired me to create a beach layout

Dusty Attic have a great range of nautical themed chipboard to choose from. I first painted all my chipboard with white acrylic paint. I started first with the frames - both frames are from the chipboard DA3017 - the thin frame is the negative attached to the outside of the frame from the same pack. With both of these I watered down the acrylic paints and let them run so that I could have various shades of browns for the wooden frame and teals for the thinner frame.
I attached the photo behind the wooden frame and then the thin frame at an angle before adhering to these to page. I then painted the smaller leaves from the leafy frame (DA1358) and attached this to the frame, layering flowers and fussy cut elements.
Once the flowers and fussy cut elements were done, the fish (DA2774), the anchor (DA2543), the compass (DA2381), and the seagull (DA2686) were added among these - I have used some twine around the base of the seagull.
The quoted sentiment (DA2545) reads "the ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings joy to the soul" - such a lovely quote! I then added the title "Fun Times" (DA2493)- which is also painted in white, then dabbed with watered down acrylic browns and gold paint. Once this was dry, I sanded the edges and added some teal paint.
The layout was then finished off with art stones and dabbing these with watered down acrylic paint.

These are the chipboard pieces I have used:

Take part in the challenge by using the moodboard as inspiration for for your layout/project and post a photo of it to the DustyFanatics Facebook page. You could win one of $50 chipboard voucher!
