Happy Easter - Deb Stephens

Hello Fellow Dusty Fanatics and welcome to my first April DT project.

To start this project I traced around a clear acrylic egg shaped dome ,onto a piece of chipboard and then cut it out. I applied Texture paste through DA Stencil DA1487- Sunburst and then covered it all with black gesso when it dried. I then added some paint in blue and yellow and sprayed it with water and moved it around the base and dried it. Then I rubbed some of Tim Holtz's new foundry wax and heat set. Gluing down some artificial moss and the painted Tree branch and egg from the Mini Nest and Bird Set (DA0982) came next.

Painting, arranging and adhering the Mini Royal Frame set small DA1527, Wordpl@y #16 - Easter DA3282 sentiment and the rest of the Mini Nest and Bird set came next.

Once this was layered up on the base, I added some loose gold mica flakes in various sizes for some sparkle before gluing down the egg dome to the base.

Here are some close ups before the dome was glued down.

It was hard to get a good photo once the dome was on as it reflected light a lot. Wishing you all a safe and Happy Easter and I hope you enjoyed reading about this project.

Welcome creative friends!

 

 I needed a nice wrapping for a ticket to the zoo, the little one loves elephants

 and a special highlight will be the visit to the tropical hall. 

 

Matching the theme I chose some beautiful chipboards 

from Tropical Foliage & Flowers section - 

tropical leaves and flowers, a parrot and a diagonal frame

(rectangular frame was cut to fit).

 

 

I created a DIN A5 card in mixed media style.

All chipboards were primed with black Gesso and a little bit structure paste,

 and highlighted 

 with some metallic waxes. 

Elephant was created with a silicone mold (Katy Sue Designs)

 and Air Drying Modelling Clay.

ATC Mood Board Inspiration - Anat Weksler

 Hello crafty friends!

Anat here today sharing a trio of ATC, entirely  made with Dusty Attic's Chipboards.

Dusty Attic has this large sheet of  ATC size frames, which I love!  I decided to use 3 of those frames as the base for my ATC set. Before painting them I attached behind pieces of the  small Geo Panel as a backround, and made a small cluster on top using a variety of chippies.

To match the October Moodboard I painted each one with several Impasto Paints  creating an Ombré effect. For highlighting the details I added White Gesso, dry brush layer, and for more texture a bit of gold microbeads.

Hello Summer - Kristy Abela - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hi Dusty Attic lovers.... 

 

 

I was lucky enough to live beside the beach for six years and one of the things I noticed was the grommets hanging down by the river rather than in the surf late in the day. On the East Coast the beach often gets 'blown out' in the afternoon and the surf can be hit n miss. This pic reminded me of the carefree days of evening walks with my boys along the V-wall who thought everything that came out of the ocean was a treasure; and for their Mum, the Cancerian Crab, who believes that the ocean is far more magical at night than the day.

To create this bit of magic I added a spattering of stars in Gold Paste and used a brayer to calm the middle of the page. I didn't want the darkness to dominate . See the pencil mark, that was to act as a guide for my image.

 

 

I added some script stamping to put back into the background what the gesso had taken out and used a texture stamp in a light blue to add some interest.

 

I coloured my chipboard with chalk paint and added some embossing powder to my nets in places to add a weathered look. For my Gecko's I painted them with a thick coat of paint and then used my heat tool to make them bubble and let them cool. This adds a great textured look, perfect for reptiles. 

 

 

Once I was happy I put all my elements together. Have a look at these close ups for the full effect.

Other Elements used:Clear Gesso, Clear Crackle Paint, Prima Waxes: Lucky Emerald, Old Denim, Peacock, Blue Lagoon, & Vintage Silk, Bling, Corrugated Paper....Here are a few close ups.... 

For the background I ripped pieces from the top & bottom of the Tattered Garden sheet & glued ripped pieces of the corrugated paper & the Fishnet Border into the layers.....

I primed the chipboard pieces with the clear gesso, then applied a thick coat of the crackle paint onto some of the pieces. Once the crackle had dried I played with blending in the waxes listed above. On this LO I did not use any flowers in the clusters, I just built layers with assorted chipboard pieces....Here are a few more close ups....
