Happiness blooms from within - Rikki G - Mood Board Inspiration

Good morning how are you? Wow time is flying its starting to get to the crazy time of the year and that means for our house we will be doing some Halloween decorations and then that means onto the roof to start prepping for Christmas Lights , yes I know I am not crazy but it all takes time.

While I start prepping the to do list I will share with you my latest creation for Dusty Attic.  This is another one of those kits I am trying to kill mind you I have enough to do another layout or two so wish me luck.

To start the chipboard embellishment cluster..... start with the fairy door.

The second embellishment to add is the Mushrooms then add the crystals.

Finish off with the fern leaves.....

Hope this has inspired you to layer your Dusty Attic Chipboard.

The Magic is you - Kerstin Filou

 Hello!

I was inspired to create a new magical shadow frame, where I used some beautiful chipboards in nature look.

Love these designs inspired by nature and you can find a lot of them at Dusty Attic.

(the added paper elements are from the Magic Forest collection by Stamperia)

I used this magical  Gothic Arch

as frame in 3d look, that means I glued one part in background and the other on the front part of the shadow frame.

For an old weathered look I use a crackle medium  with white gesso and some brown tones.

All other chipboards were first primed white gesso and then painted  with various brown acrylic paints. after drying, some highlights were set with white acrylic paint using an old wide dry brush

You stole my Heart - Rikki G - SKETCH Inspiration

Good morning how are you? I am here today to share with you the first Dusty Attic Sketch challenge !!!! So you now have the opportunity to win with either the Mood board or Sketch so how good is that ?

I am a huge fan of sketches, I love that they give you a starting point for your work to evolve from there.

Do you love sketches?

So without further ado here is the sketch.

So to start off my interpretation of the sketch I started with working the background papers and getting that all squared away with the layers.....

Then I focused on my photos and what series of photos I need to fill out the double layout.

Now you might notice that the instead of the three photos on the left hand side, there are two, I love things to be in odds so rather than 8 photos I wanted 7 ( Plus this works well if you dont quite have enough).

So where the other photo would be I made a tag cluster alternative you could add a journal block.

Next is about adding the embellishment clusters, to start off with to give you a base to work off, add Branch #3 in the middle of the pages and then work on fussy cutting and making height to add the chipboard pieces........

Then ones you have the fussy cutting pieces down, add the maiden fern throughout the embellishment strips.

The aim is to weave the fussy cutting, die cuts and chipboard in and out of each other making it seem like one.....

With the spacing you can afford to add a larger title.

If you dont like your hand writing print it !!!  Add a gap in between each line so you can give yourself plenty of room to cut and stick on your page.

I added rhinestones and clear sequins around the background dont forget to add some trails in between the photos, to tie the two pages together.

Magic - Kerstin Filou

Welcome creative friends!

I created a mixed media canvas in fantasy style and chose a magical forest theme.

Love the selection

 Foliage, Flowers & Branches

at Dusty Attic, all the chippies are very natural and inspiring for me.

They are a good addition if you want tell stories from your last hiking tour or the last discovery tour with your kids, but always very suitable for magical fairytales too.

I worked with papers and transpareny foil from 13arts, some cutting dies, flowers and floristic materials.

Winter Aconites - Kerstin Filou

Welcome creative friends!

February has come  and I have discovered the first snowdrops and winter aconites in my garden.

They are the first harbingers of spring here.

Cold, stormy winds are still whistling around the house and we see the sun far too seldom.

I was inspired to create a mixed media canvas in natural style.

Combined several nature chipboards, love this beautiful owl and grass cluster with leftovers from laces, cutting dies and stamps.

By the way, the colours also match our monthly mood board 😀

I was inspired by a snowy owl and played with some feathers as fluffy ears and wings.

Deco snow was glued on the body as a feather dress.

Beautiful frame was firstly primed with white gesso,

then embossed with  a Textured Impressions Folder (Sizzix  3D  'Lumber') and finally dry brushed with black gesso so it should look a little like birch bark.
