Notes to Myself - Heather Jacob

Hello, and a warm welcome to Dusty Attic
Heather J with you today at the home of enchanting blooms, chipboard, and more.
It is not often I create a layout on myself
so this month I thought why not ??
I love creating art journals, and have been journaling for as long as I can remember .
What great fun I have reading some of my early journals.
Writing thoughts and feelings is a perfect way of showing myself
how I have grown and evolved over the years, recording the fun times and the challenging times.
Remembering all of my journey through life.
On this LO I have created a pocket containing a tag
with personal notes to myself .
just another Form of
 ART JOURNALING.

NOTES TO MYSELF.

I love to trim my chipboard and tuck it under my photo and layer with papers.
my technique with the Dusty Attic paint is ...

Hello, today I am here to share with you a canvas I did of my son Erlendur, who is recovering from a brain injury.Erlendur also had a spinal injury that is healing on its own.He had no other injury's or breaks except for his front tooth!
My inspiration came from Heather Jacobs LO Moments in time. I just love all her work that she does with Kraft paper & I loved the colors Heather used in this LO.

All of the other products I used on this canvas, are from my stash. I  used some Graphic 45 Kraft,& the main piece of Kraft paper is from a Halloween collection from My Minds Eye. I also went through all of my metal,& found lots of oldies (Graphic 45,Tim Holtz,Prima ect. that I could use on this canvas.I have a crazy mess going on from pulling out so much stuff.. Here is the first photo I got of DD,when we got home, before his father fixed that tooth!
This is a smile I will never forget! It is when I felt DD, was in tuned to his body,& knew who is was. As soon as he started to wake up his tongue went straight to the chipped tooth. Once the nurses were able to transfer DD to the bathroom,I would watch him, as he would look at himself at all angles, at this tooth, sometimes I could not help myself ,by getting the giggles. He was still confused & in post trauma brain injury.Well with his father being a Dentist,I thought they both forgot about the brain injury, because all they could talk about is this tooth. Erlendur kept asking Siggi when he was going to fix it,& Siggi was @ home 200 hundred miles away, where his dental practice is,so he could not help him out,@ this time. Siggi offered to send up a Dentist from the City, but no DD wanted Sig to fix it! So the tooth became a distraction from the brain injury, the smile I will never forget,& so happy I took the photo before it was fixed!!!

Here are some close ups of detail....

I used 4 different products on the chipboard & the metal. I dabbed on aqua & ginger Tim Holtz adirondack ink,on both the chipboard & metal & once that dried I applied DA crackle varnish on the chipboard & ranger glaze metal sealer on to the metal.....

Erlendur is staying very positive & trying very hard,I believe in time he will come back 100%. Thank you so much for taking the time to look....Rachelle

Moments Canvas - Nadia Cannizzo

Good morning! I am here today to share with you a cute little storage box I altered for The Dusty Attic.

The Dusty Attic have a HUGE website.. it includes:
Product Gallery HERE
The ning site and gallery HERE

The blog HERE

To start with , I painted the whole wooden box with 2 coats of Gesso.

Once that dried, I applied 2 coats of Dusty Attic's Navajo White paint.

I then used an old Tattered Angels mask and Modeling Paste to create the pattern you can see.

I then used the smaller pieces of the  Flourish Frame Set, and painted them with Gesso too before applying 2 blue tones of Tim Holtz Distress Stain. When that dried, I added some more colour to the chipboard with a brush and a new product I have tried recently called Viva Decor Precious Metal Colour in Turquoise . This gives it a lovely deep colour and a bit of shine and shimmer.
As you can see above, I also used the Turquoise colour on some of the flowers.

The roses I used here are also from Dusty Attic. They are 1.5cm Roses. I simply added some Viva Precious Metal Colour on them too.

Besides the Dusty Attic Roses I added some Prima Marketing larger flowers and some Dusty Attic Bridal Veil blooms.
