The best Things by Patricia Basson
January Inspiration Board

Hello dear Blog Friends...

Today I bring you my page using the gorgeous Inspiration Board designed by our own Natasha Naranjo Aguirre...It is a gorgeous image filled with warm, rich colours and inspirational words. It is so easy to take part in our monthly challenge...complete a project using Dusty Attic chipboard pieces and at least three of the colours, link your project to the list on the right side of the Dusty Attic blog, and stand a chance to win a &100 gift voucher to redeem in our shop!!! And for the month of January there is a 20% of discount if you use the promotional code happy2015.

I have scrapped this photo that I took a few years ago before...but it suited the challenge perfectly. I knew I wanted to use and layer many chipboard pieces, therefore I kept the paper layers minimal. I did how ever use many different media's on the paper and the chipboard's themselves.

The two Butterflies were Gesso'd and heat embossed with two colours of embossing powders.

The vine was gesso'd and some glass glitter added at the end of the leaves for texture. After drying I painted it with a spray mist and added some black art sugar to it.

The Doilys were painted with Cornflower Blue Archival Ink and randomly embossed with Aged Teal Embossing Enamel. The Flower Buds were painted black and also randomly embossed with Aged Black Embossing Enamel.

I used the following pieces on my page

Hi friends!  Today I'm here to share a layout I created for the January Dusty Attic Inspiration Board.  This is a new challenge on the Dusty Attic blog, and if you decide to play along you could win a $100 gift voucher to the Dusty Attic store!  All you have to do is create a project using your interpretation of the Inspiration Board below.  The only requirement is that you include at least one Dusty Attic chipboard piece.  Don't have any?  You can purchase chipboard directly from the website or in my online store HERE.

For the title of my layout, I used a combination of Word Pack #5 and Mini ABC Tile Set.  I decided to leave most of the chipboard on this layout unaltered because I love the natural color of it.  The color also worked well with the Inspiration Board.
I tucked in a few word disks here and there.  I love the sayings on them!
I brushed a very light layer of white gesso on the number border to give it a worn look.
The background paper, by Maja Design, was altered with ink and texture medium.  I punched random areas of the paper and added stitching and staples for detail. Thanks for stopping by!  Have a beautiful day! xoxo

Journal cover - Lisa Gregory

I am over the moon excited to be sharing my very first Dusty Attic project with you! I am what you call a Dusty Attic Fanatic. I had  a wonderful collection of gorgeous Dusty Attic product before my Design Team package arrived, so I was able to complete the cover for this mini album on time for my post today.
Before I added my elements to my cover, I used a mask and some texture paste to give the cover a textural feel.  I added the Mini Corner #2 to the corners of the album..

The flowers I used are Dusty in Bloom Wild Moss. To finish the frame and the corner pieces, (I only  used 1 piece of the frame and will save the base for another project) I painted the pieces  by combining 2 different Dusty In Color paints.  Dusty in Colour Oceania and Dusty in Colour Jungle Green. I used more blue than green. Once I mixed the 2 together, I painted the frame. When the paint dried, I used some Dusty in Colour Clear Crackle Varnish. Once the frame was dry and crackled, I used the Vintage Photo distress ink on the edges. I placed the photo behind the framed window.

To adorn the spine, I cut off  2 pieces of the French Flourish Border and butted them together. I heat embossed the pieces with Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing powder in Desert Moon Turquoise.
Then I used some Ranger distress ink in Vintage Photo on the edges and adhered the pieces to the spine.

Once again, I mixed together Dusty in Colour Oceania Dusty in Colour Jungle Green and painted the spine that I cut from Grunge Bord. I love using it because it is flexible. Perfect for  mini album spine. I love the color and wanted some shimmer, so I sprayed it with Lindys Royal Peacock Fire Glitz Spray. It leaves a gorgeous bluish shimmer without changing the color of the paint.

The  mini keyhole pieces were heat embossed the same as above. I colored some seam binding and strung it through the holes I punched out with my Cropadile. I placed one piece on the front, and the other on the back covers.

Always dream - Tina Dalton

I have been wanting to create a layout for my Mother in law, who is my biggest fan, she loves my creations and is always so full of praise and encouragement for me, I really appreciate her support and hope she liked her gift. I have helped her along and she is now the creator of some amazing cards and of course she just loves to overload them with her favorite Dusty Attic chipboard
The Dusty Mini selection is just amazing for cards and pocket page scrapping as well on layouts of corse.
I used a fair bit of chipboard on this one as there were just so many pieces that suited the layout.
I have listed the Dusty Attic pieces I have used below - remember you can now buy straight from the website:  HERE

Mood Board Inspiration - Jaqueline Moore & Gabrielle Pollacco

Jaqueline Moore

Hey everyone!! Just stopping by today to share with you my take on the January mood-board here at Dusty Attic. We would love for you to play along with us.... It's simple just create a project using Dusty Attic Chipboard based on this months mood-board. You can pick what ever inspires you, the colours, words, or something from the picture itself. Here is what I came up with:

'Live and Dream Together'

I have taken my inspiration from the blue and brown/golden colors on the mood-board, though the thing that inspired me most was the Jetty in the image. It really reminded me of Dusty's 'Old Wooden Fence' chipboard, and I created my layout around this one element that I just had to use on my page.

Some close-ups:

I have taken some of the 'Old Wooden Fence' small, painting it all white with gesso, then using a combination of Acrylic paints, Micro-bead's, and some very fine sand colored embossing powder which I glued down instead of melting, to create a weathered timber look. I have glued the rails to the back, arranging each panel in a crooked way, adding to the effect.

I have added a Mini Birdcage #2 beneath my photo, mounting it up on a flower. I have used my finger to dab gesso on, then sprinkled some gold embossing powder into the wet gesso. I also added a touch of 13 Arts Gold Glitter Paint. The leafy stem coming down next to it is actually the smaller of the 2 frames in the Vine Frames #2 set. I decided that it was the perfect size to cut into smaller pieces, creating small leafy branches which I have used around the page.

I have taken the words 'Live' and 'Dream' from the 'Live Beautifully...' set and painted the white with gesso before dabbing on some mist with my finger. I have placed the word 'Live' above the fence, whilst placing 'Dream' below, layered on top of a small corner scroll from the Elegant Swirls #3. The scroll has been painted with Egyptian Gold Twinkling H2o's, and 13 Arts Gold Glitter paint.

Here you can see a Seagull I have painted with Acrylic paints to make it look a little more realistic, tucking it amongst the flower cluster to the left of my photo.

I have added the largest frame from the 'String Frames small' set around the photo, with one side sitting above the photo, and the other half sitting behind. I have simply painted it white with gesso.
There is also a really small section of Chicken Wire Panel beneath the flowers and papers above the photo. I colored it in black with a marker.

Lots of dimension as always!! I love building up layers and layers with papers, flowers and gorgeous pieces of chipboard tucked in!!!

That's it from me today. I hope you have enjoyed my post and found something here to inspire you!!! You can check out more of my work on my blog here.

Gabrielle Pollaco
Hi everyone!  I'm so happy to be sharing with you all my first layout using the NEW Limited Edition 'Nyhavn' collection by Maja Design! I really love the sunny, pretty colors in this collection, and when I saw the nautical elements in the papers, I knew that I had found the perfect papers to scrap a photo I took of my niece and her hubby.

The colours and theme are perfect for the Mood Board for this month as well

Hi everyone!  I'm so happy to be sharing with you all my first layout using the NEW Limited Edition 'Nyhavn' collection by Maja Design!  I really love the sunny, pretty colors in this collection, and when I saw the nautical elements in the papers, I knew that I had found the perfect papers to scrap a photo I took of my niece and her hubby.

  Nyhavn-P

My niece's reception was at a yacht club, and she chose nautical elements for her decor.  Add to that, her wedding colors where orange and blue, two colors that are prevalent in this lovely collection. So this collection was just the ticket to get this photo scrapped!

I used 'The Sunny Side' paper as my base and dabbed a little Ingvild Bolme chalk inks (Rusty Keys, Vintage Pink) around my photo area and the small cluster in the top right side of the page.  I then added a bit of texture with some home-made texture paste and a few Crafters Workshop Stencils (North Star, Art Is, Time Travel).

  Cherish_Scrapbook_page_Gabrielle_Pollacco_Maja_Design_05

I mounted this paper on the 'Sitting at the Dock' paper, I also used this paper as the matting behind my photo. I cropped  it to look like uneven pieces of weathered board. All the chipboard I used on this page is from Dusty Attic (Elegant Swirl #3, Elegant Swirl 13, Word Pack #4, Skeleton Clock Frames). I kept the chipboard bare with just touches of grey and white to stay with the weather wood look of the papers. I also did a little bit of stamping with a Graphic45 'By The Sea' stamp set.
