Hi there!!

Nuneka here with another project for The Dusty Attic. I don't know what's happening to me but lately I've been in love with vintage style and I decided to create these two beautiful mixed media tags. They're really fun to do and their big size allows you to add lot's of stuff to the composition, so I really enjoyed playing with The Dusty Attic chipboards in these pieces.

I started protecting a scrapbooking paper with clear gesso and sticking the cardboard pieces I've cut with an arrow shape. I cut the paper around, slightly bigger so I could tear the edges. Then I used the Distressed Diamonds Stencil and crackle texture paste to add some interest in the background.

I added beautiful vintage colors and a touch of shimmer with Lindy's Sprays, creating the perfect atmosphere for the composition. I chose soft tones to get a matching background that allows the compositions be the protagonists.

What makes this project special is the beautiful combination of The Dusty Attic chipboards. One of the things I like the most is that they're strong but easy to cut with a craft knife or the scissors. This way you can use just some parts of the chipboards (as I did with Fancy Trim nº 19), cut them in smaller pieces to place them where is better for the composition (as I did with Industrial Frame nº 3), or you can, of course, leave them as they are (as I did with Jumbo Cogs nº2).

I applied some texture paste to chipboards dabbing with my finger, dried well and cover them with ac paint. Then I color them with Lindy's vintage spray so I get a beautiful brown shade with a little green sparkle. I highlighted some areas with metallic waxes and added some sparkle with mica flakes and glass glitter. Finally I added some sentiments and placed star shaped eyelets.

Spring ATC's - Nuneka Box - VIDEO TUTORIAL

I can feel spring is in the air, don't you? And I was looking at my chip boards from The Dusty Attic in search of some inspiration, because I really wanted to create something cheerful and fresh, cute but dimensional, so... the answer was ATCs!

So I just cut some cardboard to use as base and glued them in some pieces of papers, I protected them with clear gesso and teared the edges. Then I applied a beautiful shimmery texture paste through the Distressed Diamonds Stencil and the background was ready.

Time to work on my embellishments! I decided to use some of the new gorgeous Fancy Trims (number 13) and cut them with the length of the ATCs. Then I applied several coats of embossing powders, creating a beautiful effect.

The Wildflowers (number 4) chipboards, I painted them with metallic acrylic paint in coral color, and cut them in half so they fit the ATCs. Then I cut some hexagons from the leftover paper and I was ready to build the composition. 

First I glued the Fancy Trim chipboards, then the hexagons using cardboard piece to add dimension, the the Wildflowers chipboards and some sisal. I fussy cut some butterflies I printed and added them to the composition, together with a sentiment. Finally I glued mica flakes and microbeads. Easy, right? Hi crafty people!

Nuneka here with a beautiful altered box today. I've been wanting to do something special with the box I use to keep the photos for my layouts... and when I received the latest products from The Dusty Attic and I saw the Industrial Stars, I knew exactly what I would do.

I've been working a lot with blue, mint and brown lately... so I decided to be brave this time and do something completely unexpected. What if I make a steampunk project with pink? You may think I'm crazy... but I think it worked! But let's go step by step.  First I cover the box with white gesso and added some texture with The Dusty Attic stencils: Starry Night in the lid, Distressed Diamonds in the bottom part.

Then I built the composition in the lid using different chipboards. The most important one is the Skeleton Clock Face Small because everything goes surrounding it. I combined different pieces from Cogs 3 and Jumbo Cogs 2 together with Fans 1 to create a steampunk machine coming out from the clock. 

I added a special detail with Industrial Stars 2 on the upper right corner, it really matches with the cogs and with the tiny stars from the stencil. I placed tiny cogs here and there creating continuity in the project. 

I also glued some cabochons and an empty heart in the center of the clock. Then I covered everything with white gesso and took a deep breath before coloring the box. What if I fail? I wondered... If you never try, you never know... so I took some sprays and te magic happened. Pink and gold work great together, and dark brown in the most intricate parts to add depth. 

I added some touches of brown ink to darken some areas, and metallic waxes to highlight others. I filled the heart with microbeads and glued a metallic plate on top of the heart. Finally I made white splatters that helped bringing everything together.

Vintage Lady - Nuneka - VIDEO TUTORIAL

Hi everyone! 

Nuneka here with my first project for The Dusty Attic. I wanted to do something really special to introduce myself and let you know a bit about me. I always like to give my projects a dreamy look  and the Floral Frame Set chipboard inspired me to create this giant vintage medallion.

As soon as I had Mechanical Sea World paper collection by Antonis Tzanidakis in my hands and I saw the vintage lady in the first page, I knew she would perfectly match with the Floral Frame Set. And I imagined a beautiful medallion rusted by the sea waters. 

So I thought the frames would be metallic and with the salt water oxidation they would have a patina look. I used Patina Effect Pastes to cover them completely and I added some shimmer with Lindy's sprays. And as I wanted to add a lot of volume I glued two chipboards together.

I wanted to add some interest to the background papers. In the biggest piece I used Metal Plates Stencil with graphite texture paste and Lindy's Sprays to create an underwater look. In the small piece I added vintage sprays and used Lace Stencil and extra white texture paste to add contrast.

To make everything come together and give sense to the piece, it needed gears so I took some few from Jumbo Cogs 2 and Mini Cogs 2 and cover them with rust effect paste. And to add a feminine touch, I used 49 and Market flowers, aged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I used several piece of cardboard between layers to create different levels, and placed the cogs coming from under the smaller circle (and some few in the lady hair). 

I found the perfect place for the flowers right between the two frames, I added some lichens and art stones, and finished the project with a shimmer touch: glass glitter and bronze wax to highlight some areas.
