Altered Notebook - Joanne Simmons - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello!  Wow!  How nice is this months moodboard??

I have created an altered notebook.

To start I used one of my embellishments.  I like to make these up just for fun and then add them to a page or card.  This is what I started with
So I created this embellishment using a chipboard doily as my base and then adding the broken numbers, bits of the heart attack panel then a flourish.  I did change the blossom as you will see in the pic.

Next I covered my notebook.  I painted it first with some extra body acrylic paint.  Added a little extra texture using the gradient texture stencil.  I then added some wax over the top.

Before I added my embellishment I added some perforated mesh.

Finally I added my embellishment and splattered with white paint

Life is Beautiful - Joanne Simons

Hello creative friends and welcome back the blog.

It's Jo with you today to share a simple yet effective layout.  This layout I have kept rather simple as I found that I was starting to add more and more and I really want my photo to be the star of my page.

So with some pretty papers and some awesome chipboard designs by Dusty here is my page.

I started with the Barbed Wire Frames and inked them partially in a brown ink.  I then snipped it not quite in half and added the larger piece to the left hand side of my page and the smaller piece to the right hand side.

The frame at the back is mounted on acetate to give a bit of a window look.

I then made a paper cluster for my photo to sit on and included the perforated mesh as well for a bit of a natural feel.

I kept my embellishment simple with this one.  Let the papers do the talking along with that beautiful big barbed wire frame.  I added some of the vintage keys and a title.

Faith - Joanne Simons - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello creative friends!
Welcome to the blog today.

It's Jo with you to share my take on this months gorgeous mood board.

I decided to create a tag.

First I made my chipboard embellishments using the heart attack panel #1 to sit my foliage and flower on.  You will see in th final pic that I decided to change the flower to go with one that was more in the purple tones.  I tucked in a small birdcage and under my cluster I aslo added the broken bits - Marrakesh.  These are my favourite bits to use to tuck in places for extra texture.

I then covered my chipboard tag in some pretty paper and added some lace and other trims along with some paper foliage.

Here are a couple more close ups

I hope you find some time to play along with us this month!

Treasured Memories - Joanne Simons

Hello creatives!  I hope you are well and happy.

I'm sharing with you today a layout showcasing a photo of my dear mum and my sometimes dear daughter celebrating her 18th birthday!

I started my layout by making a focal embellishment for the left hand side of my page.  This was just my starting point.

I wanted something to run down the side of my photo. I cover the chipboard pieces in pigment inks clear embossing powder and then added some gold wax to the little frame.   I also changed the flower as I wanted to add a whole heap of them.

From this I then added the cog border strip underneath he whole embellishment.  I then decided to add more cogs to create a bit of a sweeping effect across my page.

I used Nuneka's beautiful cogs for this and I covered them with Prima Old Walls rust effects.  To be totally honest I don't really even know if this effect is how it is supposed to turn out as its been sitting in my cupboard for years and looked a little dry, but I got it to work and I like the effect so I guess thats all that matters right???

I will leave you with a few close ups.
