Wild - Pascale B - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic with my first project of the year. I decided to make a canvas with another photo from the amazing Christina Fisher. 

The photo I chose was perfect to work with the beautiful January color combo.

I covered the canvas with plaster paste. When dry, I added a design with the Circle Dot stencil and Metallic flakes. Next, I painted the background with different brown and green paints. I darkened the edges with black paint. When happy with the result, I added clear crackle paste. 

I primed all the chipboard elements with white gesso. I attached the Boho Feather to the Designer Disc - Dreamcatcher with chains. In between, I added a few Wildflowers #1. On top of the Dreamcatcher, I add a Cow Skull #1. Under the photo, I added some Foliage #27 and poppies pods from my garden. 

When all the elements of the composition were in place, I began to paint everything. I started to paint the Dreamcatcher and the elements around in brown, then I added orange to the Wildflowers and the Feathers. 

I colored the Foliage and the poppy pods with green paints with a little orange. 

To finish, I highlight some details with Aged Brass wax.

Outlaw Wanted - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello everyone!

Here is my layout inspired by the October mood board loaded with stunning Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.  

We visited Namibia in 2017. Solitaire is one of Namibia's most enigmatic destinations, a very small desert town with only a diner, church, petrol station, and small shop. The first thing to catch a visitor's attention when arriving at Solitaire is the treasure trove of rusted vintage car wrecks. 

Despite not being from the same era, I think cowboys and vintage cars go well together.

Unless otherwise stated, chipboard pieces are painted with Americana Acrylic paint.

I covered the gecko, cowboy hats, boots, rifle, and Sheriff's badge with a layer of clear gesso and then Distress Oxide in Black Soot, Walnut Stain, and Iced Spruce.  Press the three Distress Oxide Ink pads onto a craft mat and spritz them with water creating small droplets.  I started with Iced Spruce for the base color and slid the chippies through the droplets a few times and dried them with a heat tool. Repeat with all the colors and dry in between. I edged the chippies with black ink.

Cactus #2 was coloured in the same manner as above using Distress Oxide in Lucky Clover, Mowed Lawn, and Crackling Campfire.

The rest of the Cactus was first covered with a thin layer of white acrylic paint and then painted with Sour Apple, Hauser Light Green, Festive Green Arbor Green, and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

I covered the saloon doors, paddock fence, and wagon wheels with a thin layer of white acrylic paint and then Sand, Milk Chocolate, Burnt Umber, and Grey Storm.  To create the weathered wood effect I used a small sponge brush and dry-brushed the paint from left to right. 

I painted the title and subtitles with the same colours as the saloon doors, this time just dabbing the paint with a sponge brush. This created a beautiful rust effect.

The cow skull and driftwood were painted with white acrylic paint, Grey Storm and Burnt Umber.  I painted the hay bales with Sand and the edges with Burnt Umber.

The horseshoe was painted with metallic silver acrylic paint and rubbed with Prima Art Alchemy Old Silver metallique wax.

The industrial chains were painted with Burnt Umber, Georgia Clay, and True Ochre.

How stunning are these bullets? I glued black cardstock to the back of the bullets and painted them with metallic silver acrylic paint and rubbed them with Prima Art Alchemy Old Silver metallique wax.

Wild and Free - Rikki G - Mood Board Inspiration

Good morning how are you? Today I am sharing another layout inspired this months mood board and this time its more literal.  With the wild canons and colours.

Starting with a cut file I filled the cactus with green tone papers, but I realised they where a little too bright so I toned them down with white ink first then went over the top of  that ink with brown ink.

As you know I love a white chipboard piece as you can see with the Cactus #1 and Cactus #4, it really shows the details. 

Layer all your chipboard including your titles.

Project Life Cards - Belinda Spencer - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello Dusty Attic fans!!

It's Belinda here today to share my project for The Dusty Attic inspired by the marvellous March Mood Board. 

This month I have created six altered Project life cards using some fun Dusty Attic chipboard pieces and stencils. I find these really fun to make and a great way to use up scraps. I will probably make them into junk journals or use them as tip ins in other journals. They would also make great card fronts. 

Here's a peek at the mood board.

I began by adding collage to my Project Life cards using torn scraps of patterned papers in the colour scheme as well as some tissue paper.

Once the cards were completely dry, I added some stencilling using various Dusty Attic stencils and texture paste. I then set them aside to let them completely dry again.

Once dry, I found that the stencilling wasn't opaque enough so I added white Posca Pen over the top to brighten the stencilling a bit more.

Here are the completed altered cards.

I painted all of the chipboard pieces with about three coats of white gesso first. Then I picked out some of the pieces to paint with Dusty In Colour Storm Cloud paint.

I used a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to add the layers to the cards. I added torn scraps of other project life cards and the leftover negatives from chipboard pieces like the Mini Stars that you can see in the first card below.

For this card, I added a torn piece of the Mini Chicken Wire and then layered on a frame from the Frame Medley set, an owl, some Mini Foliage and the Mini Caption.

For the second card I added some doodling to the cute gecko using a fine white Posca Pen.

For this card I wanted the 'create' to be pouring out of the tap like an endless supply of creativity.

I LOVE the Cow Skulls so much (maybe because I live on a farm with cows!) so I had to use one and give it a little decoration with the fine white Posca Pen again.

I used some tangled thread on this card, to show the absolute mess that an artist can make when working just as a cat does. Well my cat in particular makes a huge mess all the time!! I hear Homer Simpson in my head whenever I see what she has done next "Why you little........."

And for the final card, a simply decorated autumn leaf using the Posca Pen again.
