Just Us - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the blog. Here is my layout inspired by the beautiful October mood board which features beautiful Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.

This is a photo of my beautiful family.

All the chippies, except for the mushrooms and toadstools, were first primed with a layer of white gesso and then painted with Americana Acrylic paint.

I painted the title with Georgia Clay and dry brushed with Peaches 'n Cream.

The botanical ringlet was painted with Arbor Green and dry brushed with white acrylic paint. The botanical ringlet was cut in half.  The other half I will use for another project.

The wild grass and wheat were painted with Hauser Light Green and True Ochre.

The grass clusters were painted with Arbor Green and Georgia Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

The wildflowers were painted with Georgia Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

I colored the Foliage #4 with a sponge and all the above colors.

I covered the toadstools and mushrooms with clear gesso, and then Distress Oxide in Black Soot, Ground Espresso, Rusty Hinge, and Fired Brick. Press the four Distress Oxide Ink pads onto a craft mat and spritz them with water creating small droplets.  I started with Black Soot the base color and slid the chippies through the droplets a few times and dry with a heat tool. Repeat with all the colors and dry in between. I also splattered the chippies with the same colors for a mottled effect.  I very lightly dry brushed the chippies with Georgia Clay and True Ochre.

I painted the polaroid frame with Mint Julep Green and the edges with white acrylic paint.

The driftwood, plant label, and ticket were painted with Slate Grey and Grey Storm. I inked the edges with Traditional Burnt Amber. To create the weathered wood effect I used a small sponge brush and dry-brushed the paint from left to right. 

I also used my favorite Wordpl@y elements.

The final touches to this layout included art stone and splatters with diluted white gesso.

Alice in Wonderland - Deb Stephens

Have you seen the new Alice inspired range of Dusty Attic chipboard yet? Have you ordered yours? DO IT! You will not regret it. 

These stunning laser engraved and cut sets of chipboard are a delight to create with. 

 I applied a coat of white primer to my chipboard first and then painted with Acrylic paint. I used DA3546Alice Elements #1 – caterpillar on mushroom, DA3553 – Alice elements #8 – Mushrooms, DA3559 – Alice elements #14 Flamingos, 

DA3566 – Alice Elements #21 – Alices Arrows and  DA3465 - Forrest Ferns #1.

The DA1014 - Flower Layers #4 Mixed pack and DA1078 – Flower layers #6, were gessod and painted. I then sprayed water onto the backs of them and rubbed it in. I also used water on the very edges then separated the layers of chipboard to give a more dimensional look. I poured some small resin faces and painted and waxed them up to match the background colours and glued them on to make them into my versions of the singing flowers from the Alice Story.

All these elements are perfect for Scrapbooking, mixed media and art journaling! I hope this fun project inspires you!

           

Field Notes - Deb Stephens - Card Holder

Hello Creative friends and welcome to September! Can you believe we are only 3 months away from Christmas? I am always leaving my card making until the last minute, but this year I am determined to be more organised. Have you seen the new MDF Card Holders DA3386, on the website? They are a great new card storage option to help you to organise your card stash!

I have decorated mine using 49 and Market Meadow paper, Caps CM37148, covering the inside and outside. I have edged the exposed MDF with black paint once it was assembled.

I then decorated it using a selection of Dusty Attic Painted chipboard including: Gnomes mini DA3225, Daisies Small DA33071,

Mini Mushrooms DA2959, Grass Clumps DA3068 and Mini Grass Clusters DA0867.

I finished off with a metal bookplate and some rub-ons for my label. It's now ready for me to start storing my cards! I hope this simple project inspires you to make one for yourself.

let's go on a ROAD TRIP - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello friends,

Today I am back to feature a layout created with the September moodboard.

Love these neutral colours - and this is so soft and calming. Here is my layout inspired by the moodboard.

When I received our DT box with the suitcase chipboard (DA2958) in it, I knew I had to use these somewhere on a layout. They even come with the extra buckles and straps to build up a 3D effect. So I chose a photo (found on Pinterest) with a suitcase so I could use the chipboard suitcase. I have also used some mushrooms among my flowers.

The flowers are all layered and the spring vines were added to the flower clusters (DA2791 - I used two)

I thought the title "let's go on a road trip" was very fitting. I have then added some stars the Tabs and Starbursts chipboard (DA2946).

Hello dear Dusty FANattics!

Happy to share with you my Dusty Attic project this month

 my love for off the page, a Mushroom Fairy House.

I have created this Mushroom Fairy House featuring lots of fabulous 

Dusty Attic chipboard. I used my Silhouette to cut the shapes of the

 mushrooms. I used a combination of the gorgeous Graphic 45 collections

 Flutter and Fairie Dust. Some of the chipboard pieces and title have been 

heat embossed and others painted with Finnabair metallique paints.

I adorned the mushrooms with lots of die-cut pieces, string, resin

embellishments and beautiful Prima flowers.
