Little Things - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello lovelies

I have a layout created using the August moodboard as inspiration. I love teal colours, so this moodboard was right up my alley.

I have used 49 and Market paper and ephemera as part of my layout. 

The clockworks DA1750 was originally covered in black gesso for another project, which I didn't end up using - perfect opportunity for another layout. As I didn't want the black, I sponged on white gesso. And it worked really well to cover the black. Once this was dry, I brushed on Feathered Peacock Distress Oxide with a blending brush to the clock and then cut this in half. The photo was layered with ephemera and then I added the half clock pieces before adhering to the page with foam tape.

The foliage no #17 (DA2236) was painted with a teal chalk paint and then I added stickles to each piece. From here, I started layering my flowers and the foliage.

The title "Appreciate the little things (DA3345) was covered with white gesso, and once dry, I brushed over Walnut Stain Distress Oxide using a blending brush. I then outlined the words with  brown copic pen.

The title was then added with glue and foam tape to the page, and I finished off using 49 and Market rubons around the photo and embellishments.

By Your Side - Kerstin Filou - Mood Board Inspiration

  

Hello everyone!

 

Our monthly Moodboard inspired me to create a sea mixed media layout.

Love the weathered wooden style it fits perfectly to the feeling of salt water, foamy ocean waves, sunsets on the beach and walks on secluded natural beaches.

 

I found at  Dusty Attic some beautiful suitable chippies, such like drift wood, corals and the right frame. 

Chipboards were primed with white gesso and highlighted with distress inks in brown shades.

I also used the negatives from driftwood shapes and highlighted this pieces with  a little bit fine sand from the baltic sea beach.

Just Because - Kim Arnold - Mood Board Inspiration

 

Hi everyone! Some mood board inspiration from me today.

With this month’s mood board I felt inspired to create an art journal page using Dusty Attic chipboard and stencil. I love art journaling as it gives me a chance to try different techniques which I can then use in my scrapbooking. For this page I decided to try stamping with chipboard and I will walk you through what I did. I think it worked out really well and will definitely be something I try again.

To start the journal page, I watered down aqua coloured distress ink onto plastic and smooshed into onto the page. I like to use the packaging from my chipboard as the plastic as it is nice and soft. I did many layers, letting each layer dry, so that I ended up with a very textured background with lots of depth. I then use the Keyboard Jumble Stencil, an ink sponge and a darker shade of aqua distress oxide ink to make a random pattern with numbers and symbols. It is important that the distress ink background is completely dry before you do this.

I then used aqua acrylic paint and the broken bits chipboard to stamp more designs into the background. I simply painted the chipboard reasonably thickly and while it was went turned it over and stamped it onto the journal page. This gives you a double use of your chipboard as you can then use the painted chipboard on a future layout!

I loved the idea of building on the numbers and symbols in the background by creating a formula with beautiful sayings on the word disks. I decided on Everyday moments + Captured moments = Cherish the little things. I painted the word disks and mini addition pieces in silver paint. I interpreted the grey in the mood board as silver – as I love metalics. I made the equal sign by snipping two of the limbs from one of the crosses in the mini addition set.

I then painted up one of the songbirds using the moodboard colours. I didn’t use the second layer of the wing as I don’t want too much bulk in my art journal. Some final splatters of silver paint and a rub of brown ink around the outside of the page and my moodboard inspired art journal page is done!

Beach Life - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the blog. Here is my layout inspired by the beautiful August mood board which features beautiful Dusty Attic nautical chipboard pieces. 

This is my daughter and grandson having fun on the beach.

Here is the mood board.

and here is my layout.

All the chippies were primed with white gesso.

I used DecorArt Americana Acrylic Paint on all the chipboard pieces.

The ship wheel and anchor were painted with Americana Acrylic Paint in Traditional Burnt Umber, True Ochre and I dry brushed with white gesso

I painted the edges of the Old Wooden Fence, title, Wordpl@y, seagulls, lighthouse, mini skeleton fish, and driftwood in Slate Grey and Grey Storm. I inked the edges with Traditional Burnt Amber. 

The Mini Seagulls were painted Slate Grey.  The Seahorses were painted Bahama Blue and Traditional Burnt Amber.

I painted the Starfish and Mini Shells Slate Grey and dry brushed it with white acrylic paint.

The urchin shells were painted Plantation Pine, Sour Apple, True Ochre, and white acrylic paint

I painted the mini jellyfish and crabs in True Ochre, Bahama Blue, and Georgia Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

I painted the Ocean Elements Hauser Light Green and Bahama Blue.

Seaweed #1 was painted True Ochre, Bahama Blue, and Georgia Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint, and Seaweed #4 was painted Hauser Light Green and Bahama Blue.

After everything glued down I added art stones and splatters with diluted white gesso.

Just ME - Rikki G - Mood Board Inspiration

 Good morning how are you? I am here today to share with you this months NEW Dusty Attic Moodboard challenge. 

This one I created with on retreat... remember I had a goal of 10 or more layouts... well I managed 9 layouts, one layout took me 5 hrs to bling so I might have zoned out a little but thats ok, thats the point of retreat, to have fun and just be with amazing like minded people right?

To start this layout I used a cut file as a base and then worked around it with my photos and Dusty Attic Chipboard Elements.

By mounting the cut file on some foam tape you can make your chipboard title float over your fussy cut elements and rhinestones by only gluing small points that touch in the file.

With the Dusty Attic Sun it can be added under the small waves of the cut file.

The Dusty Attic Maiden Hair Fern can be cut into small parts so you can get two pieces, also it adds to the movement off the layout.
