HELENA JOHANSSON

Hi! Today I have a new Dusty Attic layout to share,
and I have used the April sketch, made by Nadia Cannizzo.
Such a fab sketch, don't you think?!

Here's my take. Lots of flowers, I know, but I do love flowers :)

I have tucked some Spider Chrysanthemum leaves (DA1043) into the flower cluster. I painted them white, then with Dusty in Colour, Fine Silver (DA0927). I finished them off with some Clear Gloss Varnish (DA0901).

The beautiful butterflies are from Reneabouquets:

The little Lamp Post (DA0185) I painted with white enamel accents.

The title, Memories, was painted as the leaves above, with white, silver and varnish:

I have also tucked some Leafy Stems (DA0447) in the flower cluster. These I just painted with some white gesso.

The white flowers are Dusty in Blooms, Celestial White (DA0800)

The ivory flowers are Botanica flowers from Petaloo.

 Thanks for stopping by today!

Helena

Love That - Nadia Cannizzo

Well good morning. I am hoping you are all well and creating up a storm.

I have one more creation to show you today. This time it is for The Dusty Attic and I must admit to using the same colour scheme I used for my other April project this month. What can I say, I am a tad addicted to the combination of the STUNNING new releases from The Dusty Attic, 9th Wave collection by 7Dots Studio, and the Industrial Chic collection by Lindy's Stamp Gang.

"Love That"

OK OK ... so let me tell you as much as I LOVED the combination I mentioned above, well this layout almost ended up in the bin. I think I tried to do too much and it ended up looking too buy. So what's a girl to do with little time to create anything else AND hearing the baby stir on her sleep which meant I probably wouldnt get back to this for a few days??? well.. God's gift to stressed out mums.. "GESSO"  LOL Yes, once everything had dried and once baby settled again for a few more minutes, I applied white GESSO all over the stenciled background and started again. Thank you dear God :)

Here are some closeups..

Re-Vamping with Vicky Alberto

It's never too late to add Dusty Attic chipboard to a project. Have you ever looked back at some of the first layouts you ever created and thought "not a bad START but..."? That's how I feel about a lot of my first projects. These two that I'm sharing today begged me to polish them up. I updated each of them with an extra distressed paper layer, tons of beautiful Dusty Attic chipboard, plus a few other embellishments too.

I spattered the chipboard with 3 fabulous Dusty Attic paints.
Dusty Attic products added:
Leafy frame set (DA0605)
Big bro title (DA0172)
Mini scrolls (DA0685)
Bridal veil blooms (DA0805)
Navajo white paint (DA0903)
Faded denim paint (DA0913)
Mountain meadow paint (DA0916)

Some of the most common things we do as new scrapbookers is put limited layers and few textures or details on our layouts. Often our design concept/composition is good but we fail to add the extras that turn them from flat to fabulous. I was no exception to this when I started this hobby (almost 5 years ago). A few simple changes can drastically improve the look of your project.

I painted and stamped over all of the chipboard pieces.
Dusty Attic products used:
Corner flourish #3 (DA0623)
Monarch Butterfly (DA0819)
Baroque corners (DA0543)
Navajo white paint (DA0903)

I know you're curious how those projects looked before I updated them so here is a peek. One good thing about being a "newbie" scrapper was the fact that I had poor adhesive and cheap sticker letters - so it made some things easy to remove from these layouts.

Hopefully this blog post inspires you to re-visit some of your old creations. Thanks for taking the time to view my projects today!

"Window" Double layout - Helena Johansson

Hi everybody!
Today I have something unique to share - my very first double layout.
Yes, it's true, I have been scrapbooking for over 7 years and just made my first double!

I had so much fun creating this, but I also struggled a bit trying to get the
two pages to go well together.

I have worked with Maja Designs beautiful Autumn Vintage Basic collection,
and of course lots and lots of amazing Dusty Attic chipboard.

Something I rarely do on my layouts: journaling. For this doublepager I wrote a
few sentences, since I had so much more space than I'm used to :)

I painted all the Dusty Attic chipboard with white gesso, and then I inked with
 pewter ink here and there.

And now I have lots of more close-ups for you. You will find a complete list of the
Dusty Attic product used in the bottom of this post.

Dusty Attic Products used:

Window Flower box (DA0987)
Window with Shutters (DA0792)
Ivy Corners (DA1018)
