I decided this weekend I would dig through some of my older stash in creating this page....so some of the pieces are new, but I dug through some older papers (like Basic Grey, Capella papers and stickers), some old MME (My Minds Eye) with a dash of Maja and 7 Dots (The Background paper is from the Dreamer collection, a paper called Sleepless). 

 

I rarely use sketches when I make up a layout because I'm usually trying to feature certain products so I let the products be my inspiraton.  But in this case was inspired by a sketch I saw on Pinterest by Tinci Designs....it was actually a sketch made for digital kits, but I really liked the design and thought it would work well with the Dusty Attic large Film Strip chippie I've been wanting to use.  Here is a picture of Tinci's Digital kit sketches...

 

I used the sketch in the top right corner.  If you are interested in digital kits you can find her link HERE.

I used the film strip as the bridge to the two design clusters and kind of a title space as well. I painted all my chipboard pieces with white gesso (two coats) and did a little random stamping on them with word and script stamps. I also edged with some soft brown chalk in as well.

 

I used one of my favorite little scroll chippies in the bottom right corner of the page as well.  I love the light airy filligree look the fine cut chipboard gives to a page.  The cute little natural/lavender floral cluster is from Tresors de Luxe.

 

I've had this Dusty Attic Bracket Frame set for years in my stash and only this weekend got to using it!   I used one of the smaller frames in the set to frame my photo. 

 

 

I used a really intricate and beautiful border chip from Dusty Attic called 'Sweet Pea Border' for the left side of the page design. (it is not pictured in the supplies photo below because a photo was not available online, but you can get it at the website).  I added a few adhesive pearls to finish the look.

 

I also did a bit of inking on the page with some colors that I picked out from the background paper (7 Dots Studios Dreamer/Sleepless) ....I wanted to feature the teal blues with the soft pinky/lavender.  So I did a little inking with Donna Salazer Distress Inkpad (Denim), Versa Magic Chalk Ink (Spring Pansy) and did a little spritzing with Lindys Starburst Spray (Steampunk Sepia).  And I added some texture with my home-made texture paste and a Crafters Workshop Stencil called 'Art Is'.

Hi, Vicky blogging today to share my February project using the gorgeous new "string of hearts frame set" (DA1017). I just adore this beautiful chipboard. I also used some letters from the "mini ABC set upper" (DA0861) to for the XOXO title that I set in the largest heart.

I had this picture of my daughter as a baby (in an old frame) and decided it was a perfect size for this kind of "frame" layout. As you can see... I am still in the Valentine's spirit too. Pink is my favourite colour to scrap and this picture was actually taken on Valentine's day 2009!

EASY TEXTURED CHIPBOARD TECHNIQUE

1. I built up the frame with two layers of thick gesso, pouncing a stiff brush to leave peaks of gesso (and drying completely between the layers applied).

2. Next, I sprayed with a peachy pink mist, from a distance, to lightly coat the chipboard.

3. Dark pink mist was randomly applied, but this one was sprayed very close - to have it pool around the gesso peaks. The peaks act like a resist to give a nice rippled textured effect.

4. On the letters I simply primed them with white gesso and then applied glass bead gel.

Re-purpose Lantern - Tina Dalton

Hi this Month I thought I would create something off the page to show case some Dusty Attic goodies, and I had recently purchased this Black Lantern and a bargain store close by, and it seemed perfect for what I had in mind.

I removed the glass and painted the whole lantern white. Once it was dry I painted my chosen chipboard pieces white as well, I chose to decorate all four sides identical except I added a different Mini word to each side, I used the words Believe, Dream, Adore and Cherish.

First up I sprayed the Corner Flourish #5 DA 0875 and attached it on the right hand side of each side of the lantern. I then built up my floral cluster on the opposite side trailing down and added a few Mini Butterflies #2 DA 0893 to the flourish. 

 

I wanted to decorate the top of the lantern as well and really like the look of the Dusty Attic Mini wrought Iron Fence DA 0948, I painted it white, distressed it just a little and attached two layers of it around the top of the lantern, oh and I attached it upside down so it look like the fancy edging they have on the old fashioned houses.

 

I also added some matching flowers, including the gorgeous Dusty Attic Mini Roses in the pink, to the very top and painted white and distressed a  Dusty Attic Flutterbies #3 DA 0766 to each side of the top section.

Aged Terracotta - Heather Jacob

Hello and welcome to Dusty Attic the home of amazing chipboard and blooms 

Heather J. with you today and I am sharing an Earthy layout 

Featuring the new DA design

 'AGED TERRACOTTA' 

as many of you know I adore nature and my garden . 

these old terracotta pots are all aged and mossy ,

 but I really love the energy this gives them and adds to the character. 

I added paint to the ivy chippies and to achieve this color I used 3 colors
 Dusty in Colour Gingerbread : DA 0922

Dusty in Colour Sunburnt Orange :DA 0906

Dusty in Colour Hot Chocolate : DA0923

and when dry I randomly dabbed some Black Versa color ink on the edges. 

If you haven't yet tried the DA paint , 

please consider it as the colors are just fantastic.

and I have such fun mixing them to create perfect shades and hues I desire for my projects. 

  

in my opinion these DA  blooms add the perfect touch to my layout .

December Christmas Village - Helena Johansson

Hi everybody! Today I'm here to share a new layout, using lots of gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard. 

The best thing about chipboard is the versitality! You can use so many combinations together

 and create something completely unique!

 For this layout I have played with Art Deco corners (DA1007) that I painted with Dusty in Colour, Forrest (DA0919), to match the dark green paper I have as a frame of this page. I then arranged flowers and Scrolls #10 (DA0762), painted white. I have also added Snowflakes (DA0501), also painted white, the perfect chippie for Winter pages! The smaller ones I also covered with Clear Gloss Varnish (DA0901) and some glitter. The title December (DA0200) was also painted white and then with Clear Gloss Varnish. 

And now prepare for lots of close-ups!

I love to layer chipboard pieces, and if you paint them in different colors they enhance eachother!

The larger snowflakes are perfect to tuck into flowerclusters (and can be used on pages that doesn't involve snow pictures too!)
