Seahorse hanging panel - Deb Stephens

Aren't you loving seeing all these fantastic projects with the new Industrial chippy? This marine mechanical themed range just makes me want to make things.

This Plywood wall hanging is not just some grungy art but also practical as I have added hooks to it so you can hang your aprons or bags from it!

I used the DA3381 Industrial Cluster 9 and cut it into sections to spread it out. I also added the Spinner/Arrow, the screw heads and cut out the remaining chevron strips from the outline of the chippy once the main section was removed.

The main feature is the beautiful DA3359 Marine Mechanical Large Seahorse with all it's fabulous layers. I used lots of metallic paint, waxes and glossy accents to bring out the shine in those light bulbs and gauges.

DA2190 Mini Skeleton Fish were also used in some places to add extra interest.

I love how this turned out and that it is a functional piece that I can use in my craft room as well. Looking forward to seeing all your creations as well!

Lady Belle - Hot Air Balloon - Deb Stephens

Hello fellow Dusty FANattics! I am hoping you are as excited as I was when the Boss Lady said "Industrial Chippy New Release!"

I was in love with all the mechanical layers and the sizes they all came in! It all helped with my mixed media Hot Air Balloon Project called Lady Belle.

The main attraction is the DA3366 -Marine Mechanicals Fish (Medium) with some DA1932 - Mini Cogs #2 added. That heart though...sigh....

Lady Belle (Spelled using DA0983 – Teeny Tiny ABC Set) is complete with a string of small LED battery operated lights that hide inside her balloon to give the impression of the burner inside. Other Chipboard on her basket include DA0154 – Barb Wire and DA2190 – Mini Skeleton Fish.

I also used DA2864 – Geo Gears #1 to cut into the balloon so that more light can be seen through the windows while she hangs. It looks amazing in the daylight and in the dark!

I hope these photos of Lady Belle on her maiden voyage inspire you to get out your chipboard and have a play. You don't need too much.. just let your imagination take flight...

Mischief - Lynette Jacobs - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Attic Fans!

Lynette here, welcome to the blog today. I am sharing my take on the January mood board. The mood board just shouts beach and I used a funny photo of my husband and grandson taken on a walking trail at Robberg Nature reserve in Plettenburg Bay.

Some close up details:

I used white cardstock and applied some Weathered Wood Distress Ink through a stencil to break the white background.  I then cut apart a sheet of patterned paper with slats and threaded twine through it to create the image of a board walk.  I painted the tropical foliage with a green to match the leaves in the fussy cut images.

I used foam tape and layered the fussy cut images for dimension.

The title was heat embossed with Navy blue embossing powder.

The mini skeleton fish and compass was dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

Here I also used lots of foam dots to create dimension and layered the painted chipboard pieces between the fussy cut pieces.

I brought in more of the dark blue by adding Nuvo Crystal drops to the clusters.

I just love all the dimension...the fussy cutting was so worth the time it took.

Hello Summer - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello everyone!

Here is my project inspired by the beautiful July mood board. My project is filled with beautiful Dusty Attic nautical chippies, flowers and die cuts.

All the chippies were primed with white gesso.

I painted the edges of the title, seagulls, mini skeleton fish, sand dollars, wordpl@y and driftwood with Americana Acrylic Paint in Slate Grey and Grey Storm. I inked the edges of the driftwood and wordpl@y with Black Soot Distress Oxide.

The lighthouse was first covered with coarse gesso which gave the walls a lovely textured look.  Once dried I covered it with white acrylic paint. I then dabbed grey and brown ink on the coarse parts to make it stand out more. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.

I painted the jelly fish with Americana Acrylic paint in True Ochre, Bahama Blue and Georgia Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.  I love these chippies, even more after watching the documentary My Octopus Teacher.

I painted the Compass Rose with Art Alchemy Liquid Acrylic in Umber, Burnt Sienna and Ink Black, dry brushed with white gesso and lightly rubbed with Art Alchemy Wax in Rich Copper.

I covered the string frame with Americana Acrylic Paint in Bahama Blue and dry brushed with white gesso.

The final touches to this layout included art stones and splatters with diluted white gesso.
