LIFE Documented - Kim Arnold

Hi everyone! I have some masculine layout inspiration for you today using the amazing large underground network background. I love the effect that I have been able to achieve by layering this piece over a grungy background paper and an A4 acetate printed with gears and text. Dusty Attic has so many great masculine style pieces available which makes it easy to scrap those layouts about sons, husbands, grandchildren and male friends.

I have made this layout using the large underground network, an industrial frame circle embellished with industrial jumbo gears and a title from the word pack 55. I will walk you through the techniques I applied to each of the elements.

I started with the large background piece, painting it black and then rubbing a dark grey wax from Prima wax roughly over it so that it wasn’t a solid finish. When I attached it to my background paper, I left a small amount hanging off the right edge of the layout and then cut the chipboard flush with the edge.

I then added a bronze Prima wax to the industrial circle frame and vintage gold wax to a variety of cogs from the industrial jumbo gears 2. I then layered these pieces over two 3x4 inch photos of my son working on his car. Although the frame covers parts of the photos, you can still easily see what the photos are about. I love how the frame with the gears really works with the photo topics.

I then cut lots of little works and icons from a patterned paper and layers them to the left of the photos and frame over part of the underground network background.

The title was finished with copper Prima wax and attached at the bottom of the frame. I really love the finish that Prima wax gives to chipboard as it has great coverage, dries solid and won’t rub off and you can get them in metallic or matte finishes.

I hope you have a chance to get some creative time in soon.

Happy scrapping
Kim x

Life is a daring adventure - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello lovelies

Today I am on the blog with a layout created using the October moodboard.

I have used papers from 13 Arts and Ciao Bella and done a bit of fussy cutting from the 13 Arts paper to create my layout.
For this layout I have used two sets of chipboard - Industrial Jumbo Gears (DA2860) and Foliage #4 (DA1294). I dabbed metallique brown paint on all the pieces first using a sponge and waited for this to dry. Once this was dry I added a dark teal metallique paint to the chipboard pieces, also dabbing this on with a sponge
I first added matting layers behind the photo before adhering this to the page with foam tape down the centre of the matted photo. I did this so that I could add my fussy cut pieces and gears under the photo as I did my layering.
I started first with fussy cut pieces than added the gears - some pieces were added with foam tape so I could create my different layers.
Once these were all layered I then added some of the foliage.

You can take part in the monthly moodboard challenge by using the moodboard to create a project (anything, as long as you use Dusty Attic Chippy) and add your project the Dusty FANattics facebook page. 2 random winners are selected and will win one of two AUD50 worth of gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard.

Thanks for visiting the blog today.

Each mini metal box was altered using different chipboards and leftover which I love to use.

To color them I have used Finnabair's set of Textures paste like the Rusty set.

I enjoy so much altering this little tins, I hope you like the outcome!

Mood Barometer Submarine - Kerstin Filou

Welcome creative friends!

I was looking for a special gift idea and had an inspiration.

Especially in today's difficult times, people are not always in a good mood, there are good and bad days.
When I had this ingenious submarine with the 3D effect lying on the table,  I thought to myself, this must definitely be seen and shouldn't disappear in the closet.

So I created a mood barometer for desk with the help
of two metal threaded rods and a few magnets.
