Treasure the little moments - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the blog. Here is my layout inspired by the beautiful November mood board which features beautiful Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.

All the chippies, except for the bird nest, branch, wordplay, and barb wire frame, were first primed with a layer of white gesso and then painted with Americana Acrylic paint.

I only used a piece of the large barbed wire.  For the rust effect, I painted it with Burnt Umber, Georgia Clay, True Ochre, and Lamp Black.

The small branch and bird nest were painted with Burnt Umber and Arbor Green.

The Wordpl@y was inked with Tsukneko Pearlescent Chocolate ink.

I painted the foliage, wildflowers, and berries as follows :

Foliage #23 with Dusty Rose

Foliage #17 with Arbor Green and True Ochre

Wildflower #5 with Georgia Clay and True Ochre

Christmas Berries #1 with George Clay, True Ochre, Burnt Umber, and dapped with white acrylic paint.

I then cut all of them into pieces, and tucked them into the flower clusters.

Trust your heart - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone!

Here is my layout inspired by the stunning August mood board, and featuring Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.  

For this layout, I used the 49 and Market Vintage Artistry Airy pattern paper from the Essential collections and rub-ons and ephemera stack elements from the Vintage Artistry Coral and Natural collection.

All the chippies were first covered with a layer of white gesso.

I covered the Botanical Ringlet with Americana Acrylic paint in Mint Julep Green, Gooseberry Pink, and dry brushed with white acrylic paint, cut it in half, and used the other half under the large butterfly.  I used the mini tab "trust your heart" as my title.

The nest and eggs were painted with Americana Acrylic paint in Traditional Brunt Umber, Grey Slate, and, dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

The small branch was coloured with Distress Oxides in Mowed Lawn, Iced Spruce

 and Ground Espresso.

The Christmas Berries were painted with Americana Acrylic paint in Gooseberry Pink, and dry brushed with white acrylic paint. Foliage #23 was painted with Americana Acrylic paint in Oyster Beige.

The final touches to this layout included art stone and splatters with diluted white gesso.

Painters Pallet - Deb Stephens - Mood Board Inspiration

Welcome to my July Mood Board inspiration project for Dusty Attic, a mixed media pastel "Debs Palette"!

This project comes together (as most of mine do) with some playing of elements including chipboard, resin, metal and colour. Start by having you chosen elements on your desk that appeal to you. Arrange them on your base, layering up, until the composition pleases you. I always take a photo so that it reminds me of how to re-construct when I have to take it all apart to adhere it. I used crackle texture paste through the Leaves #2 Stencil DA1708 onto the mdf palette.

I used pieces from Foliage #15 DA2234, Swirly Flourish DA2352A, Vintage Keys DA0392 and leftover mini butterflies from the Mini Birds and nest set DA0982. Once I was happy with my composition I went ahead and adhered it all down and added a few extra embellishments before applying Gesso all over.

After this I applied clear crackle paint in some areas including onto the chipboard and allowed it to dry well. I applied colour using a mix of Lindy's stamp gang colour shots, Distress stains and finishing off with Metallic Waxes and some foiling. I love how the colour seeps into the various cracks.
