Always & Forever Shrine - Amanda Herring

Hello There

I am back with my second Dusty Attic project for March  and I have used the ATC Shadow box to create a shrine.

I have used a series of cogs and Ornamental chippy pieces to turn my shadow box 

into a small ATC Shrine.

I love how the cogs and clock face give this piece the look of an old fashioned wall clock.

The paint colours are bright and I love the contrast between the ornamental shrine and the cogs and gears.

By cutting up the Ornamental Trim and Ornamental Pendants and spacing them around the ATC Shadow box gives a Mexican shrine effect.

Adding the winged frame to the front of the shadow box helps to add dimension to the piece.

Th picture above shows the beginning of how cutting up the Ornamental pieces give a shrine effect.

I painted a layer of gesso over the entire piece , once assembled, and then added some texture paste 

to fuse the pieces together and unifies all the layers of chippy.

Spooky Shrine - Deb Stephens

Hello Everyone! It's Halloween time and I'm here to share a mini spooky DT project with you.

This DA3127- ATC Shadow Box Mini, was covered in collage paper and then highlighted with Orange paint. Mrs. Amelia Hardy, is the owner of this advert …but it does not state how or what she may be contactable for. Perhaps the props around the box advert will give us some clues...

There is an embossed cobweb from the DA0612 spiders and webs set that has a bone caught in it! One of my favourite things to do is stretch clear glue across an element in silky strands so it gives the impression that the bone piece is wrapped and held onto the shrine by real cobwebs! The little bats are graphite paste that has been applied through DA3060 Bats stencil.

The large DA0623 Corner flourish #3 has been painted and stamped before being glued down and elements added on top of that like the broomstick and large metal spider.

This project was then finished off with a few small props like a jar filled with red chunky beads and red alcohol ink labelled "tongue of dog", along with a resin skull and lots of candle drippings and moss.

Light the candle and call her...anytime day or night...I dare you.

Halloween ATC Shadow boxes - Pascale B

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a set of Halloween ATC shadow boxes. 

I primed all the ATC Shadow Boxes with black gesso. Next, I added Graphite paste inside the boxes and clear crackle paste on the outside. When dry, I highlight the crackles with silver wax.

I painted the Web Corner #2, the Zombies Hands, the Mini Pumpkins, the Mini Headstones, the Mini Potion Bottles, and the Gothic Fretwork Small with Linen Impasto that I mixed with more or less black gesso. The spider, the bats, and the base of the Candlesticks were covered with black gesso. 

Cemetery: On the Small Crocked Fence #2, I used the Rust Effect Paste set. I add some green paste on the Mini Headstones to mimic the moss. I added some moss at the bottom of the Shadow Box, then the Headstones and the Zombies hand, and finally, the crocked Fence

Pumpkins: I colored the Mini Pumpkins with orange and brown liquid acrylic. I covered the base of the Candlestick with Old Silver wax. I covered the spider with Glossy Accent and a touch of gold wax. I glued the candlesticks in the background, the pumpkins, and finally the web with the spider. 

Magic potions: I covered all the bottles with clear crackle pastes. When they were completely dry, I added some colors to the bottom of the potion bottles. I glued them inside the shadow box and added some lichen. To finish, I add the Gothic Fretwork and bats that I covered with 

To finish all the shadow boxes, I added black glitter.
