Wild and Free - Cathy Cafun (Challenge Inspiration)

Cathy here today sharing my take on this month's beautiful Mood Board, which inspired my shabby chic boho skull canvas, created using gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard and stencil designs.  You have until the end of the month to join in for your chance to win a $100 Prize Voucher from the Dusty Attic website!!

To create my background, I started by covering my canvas with a cream pp and then stamped around the edges to create a border.  I then stenciled the background with the beautiful Mandala Stencil and Metallic Lustre in Coral.

The Boho Skull and Mini Feather chipboard pieces were coated with White Frost Metallic Lustre and a touch of Coral Metallic Lustre on the ends of the feathers, which I attached to the Skull with DMC thread.

I was drawn to the shabby chic photos in the Mood Board and was inspired by the lace doily and pretty blooms and used fussy cut blossoms and a doily stamp to alter the Boho Skull

For the title I used the Mini Script and Teeny Weeny ABC chipboard sets, which I coated with White Frost Metallic Lustre, then lightly dabbed over with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide, let it sit for a minute, then wiped off, so it left just a hint of colour.  I used the Clear Gloss Varnish to adhere the title to my canvas.

Wings - Sanderijn de Bruin (Challenge inspiration)

 Hi everybody!



It's Sanderijn here, with my newest layout, based on the amazingly inspiring moodboard for this month's challenge.

I have created a page which has a deeper meaning. It's about the open door in the picture. It's symbolic for the oppertunity to see, in every situation, the ability to be free, to follow a new path, reach for the stars, and spread your wings...

I used a lot of birds in the layout, to make it symbolic for 'flying through the open door'.

So I hope everybody remembers, they always have a choice in life, to open a new door, a new path, and to search for their own (inner) freedom...

The background is created with a layer of clear gesso, several layers of different stencil patterns,  added with gesso. I splattered some golden watercolour paints too.

I build up my page with cheese cloth, lace, tags, art stones, chipboard pieces, stamped flowers, 3D flowers and word stickers.

Dream Imagine Believe - Farrel Tailor (Challenge Inspiration)

Hello Again!! Today I am sharing with you a canvas board I created using the Dusty Attic August Mood Board which is on their blog as inspiration.

It's always a challenge for me to create something that isn't boy related due to having 3 boys so I found this a challenge but loved every moment of it. I wanted to create a canvas focusing on the dream catcher image and the colour tones....and this is what I came up with.

There are so many layers to this canvas..I just love it!! And I got to use some molds a very dear friend of mine made for me. I loved how the crackle varnish created more texture to the dream catcher.

Sisterly Love - Nicole Doiron

Hello everyone! It's Nicole here,

and I am back today to share another DT project featuring 

lots of Dusty Attic chippies, flowers, paints and more!

Since I didn't use the August mood board sketch as inspiration for my mixed media canvas shared with you earlier this month, I decided to use it for this layout.  As on the sketch, I went with 2 small prints for my pictures framed with diagonal flourishes and lots of flowers.

Definitely some of my favorite newly released pieces are the Lacey Trim and the Quoted Sentiments that now come in black.  These black chipboard pieces are awesome as you can use them as is - no need to color them - and they pop out of any project.

On the Lacey Trim above and the Layered Flourishes seen below, I used a combination of Oceania and Faded Denim acrylic paints with some dabs of white. I then added a bit of Clear Gloss Varnish to give them a little shine. The Leaves were covered with Crushed Olive.

In my flower clusters, you see Dusty In Bloom Blue Bonnet and Bridal Veil flowers

along with some other pieces from my own stash.  I love the blue colour palette!

On my background, I dabbed some Crushed Olive paint and then used

 modeling paste with the Sparkle stencil to add texture and design.  

After coloring the Monarch Butterflies with a black Copic marker, I dabbed them 

with white paint and then added rust colored ink for a dual color effect.

These beautiful little girls are my friends' daughters!

Celebrating You - Gerry Van Gent (Challenge Inspiration)

Gerry's here today to share with you my take on this month's moodboard.

I was inspired by the colour scheme but I didn't use the sketch this time.

I chose "Celebrating You" title because it was perfect for my photo -

my daughter, celebrating her 10th birthday.

I use two different chipboard frames to mat my photo.

The Doily frame I painted in white and added pearls as a final touch.

I used one of the String Frames, painted it in pink and layered/adhered it

on top of the doily. Then I added the photo.

I used black ink to "paint" the "Celebrating You" caption.

I used a few leaves from "Floral Layers" chipboard.

All leaves were treated with black ink.

The Boho Feathers got a layer of gesso and after that I gave them a pink-green touch.

Because I didn't want the paint to be too strong I added a bit of glitter.

After that I dabbed a bit of gesso on the feathers.
