Girls just want to have fun - Rikki G - Sketch and Mood board Inspiration

Good morning how are you? I am here today with a little hybrid of the two Dusty Attic challenges. Remember you still have time to do either the sketch or mood board or if your feeling extra creative why don't you enter twice, that will give you two chances to go into the draw and what's better than that?

So here's a reminder of the Mood board...

And here is the reminder of the sketch which I rotated so the photos ran down the page.....

Ok where to start... there's a few key Dusty Attic Chipboard pieces that start the layout off and helps work your fussy cut layers in the layout.

Starting off with Door #3, add some foam mount or scrap chipboard to the back so you can add things underneath the door.

Now glue the left hand edge of the Ornate Circle frames to the door it will suspend the frame so you can add things in between the layers.

Add you photo, I used 2 layers worth of scrap chipboard to sit in the frame, this adds another layer.

Now add your fussy cutting.

Add your title to the right hand side of the photo, then add a selection of Grass Clusters around the frame.

Add some Ivy Vines throughout the layers.

Make a little cluster of Hanging Mason Jars

Add cluster of Broken Bits Honey Comb to your background.

Till next time have creative day.

All you need to do is add your take of the challenge into the comments section on the Dusty FANattics Facebook page HERE for your chance to win one of two amazing $50 Credits to choose any.

Good Luck and have fun creating.

Beauty - Pascale B - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm on Dusty Attic blog with a new mixed media panel, inspired by the February color combo. I must confess that I stick to the purple and the light blue.

Here is the colorful February color combo.

I glued some collage sheets on the canvas board. Next, I added a design with paper paste and a stencil.  Finally, I added white crackle paste. When everything was dry, I painted the background with different acrylic paints to match the colors of the photo I have chose.

I primed all the chipboard with white gesso. I covered the ATC Frame #5 with the Sterling Foundry wax. Then I added Denim Blue wax to give it a blue tone, then Soot Antiquing wax to aged it.

I sprayed the Floral Corner with Open Arms Amethyst, then covered it with UTEE. The ink make like bead of color under neath. I sprayed again the ink, then heat the UTEE one more time. The result is a marble effect.

I painted the branch with a mix of Aubergine Impasto and Burnt Sienna liquid acrylic paint. For the Tea Leaves, I used Aubergine and Titanium White, then Old Silver wax.

I select a few Nature's Bounty flowers that I colored with the Open Arms Amethyst. I want them to be darker as they were in the shadow side of the photo. I used the White Pearl wax to add some light and dark brown liquid acrylic to add shadow.

To finish, I added glitter.

Magic Frost Flowers - Kerstin Filou - Mood Board Inspiration

Welcome creative friends!

Our monthly Moodboard is an absolutely wonderful natural inspiration,

Love the color theme, it reminds me on sunsets by the sea
it has so much harmony and peacefulness for me.

So I was inspired to create a new magical layout in mixed media style,
I chose the delicate variation of this Moodboard colour palette
to match an icy frosty winter morning.

The chipboards were primed with white gesso and partially decorated
with a little silver glitter paint. I reassembled the pearl pendant and
 added an ornate pendant.

Extra tip:

I turned all the paper flowers into ice flowers by first dipping them
in liquid white acrylic paint and then sprinkled with synthetic snow
to give them a quick and easy frosty look.

Find beauty in the Everyday - Kim Arnold - Mood Board Inspiration

Hi everyone! Some inspiration using the beautiful February moodboard.

I was totally inspired by the colour palette of the moodboard – but I did add some gold in which I felt worked well with the sunrise image. I pulled a heap of papers and embellishments in the colours and then selected my Dusty Attic chipboard and coloured it to match. I will take you through what chipboard I used and what techniques I applied.

I started with the background so that it could dry. I used a heavy weight mixed media cardstock and painted it with blue watercolour. Once that was dry, I used the Rainbow stencil and inked with oxide inks and a sponge over the watercolour.

With the title, I coloured the cursive part of the title in matt blue wax and then added an opal wax over it to give it some shine.

For the word “EVERYDAY” I used a plum wax, and once that was dry, I dabbed gold wax on the bottom half of the letters to give an ombre effect.

I then painted the dandelions with gold ink. I use Kuretake Brilliant Gold Mica Ink which works so well on raw chipboard to give an incredible gold finish in one coat. I used one large and two small dandelions.

For the Scrolls, I wanted to do another ombre effect, but in purple, so I used three different purple waxes to go from a light to dark purple.

I then layered the chipboard under and on top of the various elements that I used on the layout.

There is a process video if you would like to see exactly how I made this layout:

I hope you have a chance to get some creative time in soon.

Happy scrapping
Kim x
