Remember Today - Karan Gerber - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Creatives and welcome back! Today i am sharing a project for Dusty Attic.

This project is based on this months mood board, which is filled with bright and vibrant colors.

Using a photo of my nephew and at the time this photo was taken, his fiance, who are now married. I added sepia tones to the photo and then added in some layers. The colors in this collection make this months mood board easy to work with.

Beginning with some mystic flourish flame, i set the photo on that, then added bookplates, and Mystic Flourish in and around my flowers

I set my title on the florals painting it a light blue using chalk paint.  I cut apart the mystic flourishes and added then in and around my flowers.

You still have time to try out this months mood board.

Confused Protein - Deb Stephens

This large Mixed Media functional project, is a gift for someone's 50th birthday. The title is Confused Protein because he loves fishing, but his nickname is T-Bone, lol.
The fish base is approx. 22" long (MDF) which makes it hard to photograph on a craft mat for size comparison, but that means I got to use many of my favourite sets of Dusty Attic chipboard on it.
The base layer and all chipboard was covered in white gesso first. Rice paper and paint was added to the base, and graphite paste through the DA 2158 Metal Plates stencil and dried.
I used DA1413 300 x 300 Chipboard sheets 1.8mm thick to die cut out my own large alphabet letters. I didn't cut an 'O', as the

DA3361 Industrial Frame Circle was topped with a hardware dome to replace it. This was then filled with some of the memorabilia and ephemera from T-bone's era (like a vantage motorcycle sign, mini number plates, skeleton fish, float, bullet casings, beer caps and so much more!) It's like the contents of the fish's stomach is open to view and it has travelled far and wide!

Other chipboard pieces include the DA2859 Industrial Gears, DA0232 Jumbo Cogs #1 and DA1941 Bike Chains.

An feature piece to finish off the tail end is DA3374 Industrial cluster #2 and DA3357 Marine Mechanicals Angler Fish (Small). I finely hand painted bronze metallic details onto the angler fish (even though it did not photograph well) and finished the project with lots of patina wax.

Now T-Bone has a place to hang his keys to his beloved Bike, Boat and Car.

I love getting handmade gifts, as I appreciate how much time, effort and love goes into them so I am hoping this inspires you to do some making and giving.

Strike a Pose - Adri Du Preez - Mood Board Inspiration

 Hello everyone!

Here is my layout inspired by the beautiful and bright November mood board for Dusty Attic

For this layout, I used paper and elements from the 49 and Market Spectrum Sherbet collection.

Here is the mood board.

and here is the layout of my sweet granddaughter.

All the chippies were first covered in white gesso and Americana Acrylic paint.

The Squiggly frame, title, and butterflies were painted in Peaches 'n Cream, Pineapple, Bahama Blue, and Boysenberry Pink, and then dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

As you can see from these photos, Mila loves to pose, and this title is perfect for them.

The Foliage #23 and Seedling #2 were painted in Mint Julep Green and Sour Apple and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

I painted the daisies with white acrylic paint, and dry brushed them with Pineapple Yellow.  The center of the daisies was painted with a yellow Posca pen.

A close-up.

To finish off my layout I added pearls, glitter and splatters with diluted
white gesso.

Dusty Attic products used.

I hope you find time to play along with this mood board.  Share your projects on
our Facebook Page here for your chance to win a $50 (AUD) credit for two lucky winners
to the Dusty Attic online shop so you can choose your very own chippies you would like
to use.

Art Journal - Deb Stephens - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone, it's Deb here with my November Mood Board Inspiration make. This is a small A5 Visual diary that I decorated using lots of Dusty Attic chippy and stash items.

I started by stenciling through the DA1538 Distressed grid stencil with clear texture paste and added some crackle paste as well. After it dried, I arranged my elements on the cover until I was satisfied with the composition and adhered it.

Then I covered it all with a coat of white primer.

This is where the begins! Using a mix of paints and waxes in the Mood Board Inspired colours I finished off with some waxes. Here are some more close ups of the cover.

List Of Dusty Attic Products Used:

Industrial Globes DA1831
Industrial cluster #1 DA3373
Gears #2 by Nuneka DA2744
Industrial Hearts DA2953
Art Journal DA1693
Distressed Grid Stencil DA 1538
There is still lots of time to get your Mood board entry in and be in the running to win some awesome Chipboard!

November 2022

Hello everyone, can you believe it is November already ?  Not long until the December festivities are upon us and here in Australia the kids are all breaking up for Christmas holidays mid December until February next year.

At the moment "The Boss" is teaching on the much awaited Dusty Attic New Zealand cruise with a bunch of amazing ladies on this magnificent ship "Ovation of the Seas". This cruise was cancelled like many others and finally re scheduled with an amazing class room and an amazing array of classes from Double and Single layouts plus an awesome mini album.

The November Mood Board inspiration is bought to us today by

Today I have a super bright and fun layout of my two grand children who made some Dinosaur masks having "Crafty Fun".

This is November's striking mood board with bright fun colours, I knew I had the perfect photos for this! There were lots of scary "Roars" coming from behind those masks.

I started with mounting my photos with orange and blue and deciding on the composition of my layout with four photo's that I wanted to use, then I got to work choosing and painting my chipboard pieces.

The ABC123 borders I chose to add to the top and the bottom of the page and painted them with Impasto paints red and orange. The cute scissors I have painted with paint pens and the stars and Impact alphabet I have spray painted white.

To add some softness to the layout I then sponged some light blue paint over the Impact letters I used for my Title.

To colour the pencils I have used the same colour pen for the middle and then added the pencil colour at the tip and edges. Finishing off the scissors I have added some metal brads as the joint that opens and closed them.
