Sweet Memories - Patricia Basson

Good day dear Bloggy friends at this first Blogpost for 2023!
For my first post for Dusty Attic I chose again this lovely photo of Chantelle at her Matric Farewell Dance.
I used papers from 13Arts, the Aria Story and Out of the Blue Collections. I distressed the papers by punching random borders and used several rub-ons as well.

I gesso'd the Fancy Frame, Broken Bits and Mini Caption. The 'sweet' I painted with Salvaged Patina Distress Paint. The Frames and Broken Bits were painted with a Yellow Acrylic Paint, Warm Red paint from Stamperia and Crackling Campfire Distress Paint. I also splashed some watered down gesso on them.

On the Iron Garnish and 'Memories' I used Dublin Metallic Flakes from Finnabair.

The Dusty Attic On-line Store is filled with these and many many more amazing designs...

From the Sea - Amanda Herring

Hello There

It is my turn to share an arty creation  for Dusty Attic
and my second for this month.

I love shadow boxes projects and gave this one a vintage steampunk ocean theme Using the Marine Mechanical Chippy!

I have used a wooden painting panel to collage on, but instead of working on the flat front surface I have turned it around and I have used the back,
this gave me a nice sized shadow box and the wooden panel is nice and firm to work on unlike a stretched canvas.

To start, I have covered the base with Stamperia scrapbooking paper cutting strips to cover all sides
of the frame as well as the base, I have used Mixed media glue to stick everything down and also applied two coats of the glue on top to seal the surface before adding crackle medium and colour.

Once dry I have added Clear crackle paste with a palette knife and left it overnight to dry naturally and then coloured using Vintage Antiquing paste also from Stamperia  as this really helped to age the colours in the paper background  as well as emphasise the crackle finish.

I have used acrylic paints on the mechanical fish chipboard pieces and the leaf branch. In used various different brands of paints including Sennelier, Dina Wakley and Paper Artsy.

I used PVA glue to glue the fish and coral to the panel, building under the fish up with chippy scraps so that they are nice and stable.
I have added leafing flakes to the fish and Leafy frond  and Glossy accent to the eyes to finish off.

Own your story - Pascale B

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a small mixed media frame.

I started by making a background for the frame using a piece of cardboard that I covered with canvas. Then, I primed them both with white gesso.

I selected different sizes of gears and a few leaves from the Botanical Mix chipboards. I primed all the selected chipboards with white gesso. I glued all the elements in place around the photo and added a few flowers as well.

I colored the gears and botanical mix with the Burnt Umber liquid acrylic and a lot of water. When happy with the result I added some White Gold and Old White waxes.

I covered the frame with clear gesso. When dry, I colored it with brown and black liquid acrylic paints. Then I dry brush with white gesso to whiten the frame.

To finish, I added some glitter.

A Dog's Life - Kerstin Filou - Mood Board Inspiration

Welcome everyone!

Dusty Attic's January Moodboard invites you to create
an amazing project of your own choice,
it shows beautiful warm natural colors.

I was inspired to create a natural mixed media layout with our darlings, the shelties.

I used some of the awesome dog chipboards, which where primed

with white or black gesso, always a very good base when you plan to paint

with acrylic colours. On the parts with black primer,

I continued to work with dry brush technique,

used white gesso and green gold metallic paint.

The natural looking chipboards were painted with two shades

of green acrylic paint, for the wheat I used green, gold and white,

ears became more vivid with micro pearls.

used Dusty Attic chipboards and stencils

Dream bigger every year - JenBurns - NEW 2023 Designs

Hello everyone

I love how this layout came together so quickly. Just reminders to myself really for the New Year using the NEW RELEASE chipboard products.

I first made a template of a love heart out of an A4 piece of paper then cut strips of the 49 and Market Alena papers randomly and laid them into the shape.

Next came another fun part where I had all these borders and edges to lay across the heart shape, I kept all of the chipboard white so it would stand out from the background.

I then used the NEW products to add little quotes and reminders to myself in and around the borders!

To finish I foam mounted my photo ontop of all the design and added the title from the Word Pack #55.
