Oh what a Beauty ! - Heather McMahon

Hello again from Heather, Dusty Attic friends! I have a layout to show you today that I made using some of my favourite chippies. I had so much fun with this!

I absolutely love Dusty Attic's Whimsy Frames. I know I'll be using these again and again. There are plenty of different designs and I'm working my way through them all! I simply inked my frame in black ink to make it stand out from the bright, busy background. This is so quick and easy to do.

The background is a riot of colour and scraps - I love this edgy, arty style. It might look like I've thrown it all together but it actually takes me ages to get the balance of colour and weight right. The background is made using my current favourite stencil - the Scribble Circles. I just swiped gesso through it. I put all sorts of nick-nacks on top, like this cute little Dusty Attic bird.

I've painted my title in bold colours, again to help them stand out from the background. I mixed up my Dusty Attic fonts to add to that funky feel. I then painted the alphas with Clear Gloss Varnish to give the title a more polished look. I also ran a line of Clear Gloss Varnish around the inside edge of the frame.

Merry Christmas

WISHING EVERYONE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE CHRISTMAS DAY WITH ALL YOUR LOVED ONES FROM JENNIFER HEDGER AND THE WHOLE DUSTY ATTIC TEAM

Hello and a warm welcome to you on the lead up to the big festive day. As this will be my last blog post until Christmas, I felt it only fitting to do a Christmas card .
So without further ado I present

"Merry Christmas"

There will be a couple of my dearest closest friends having a giggle to themselves and one in particular maybe! She has for sometime now, been telling me to push the envelope and maybe do something a little out of my normal, so to speak. And for me that would be a card! Never in my wildest dreams would I have created a card, yet here I am!

I have kept this I think fairly simple adding in a little of me. Me being torn papers and those are of the gorgeous Maja Design "I Wish" collection. They are more than stunning and for this particular project I decided to stay with the vintage colours and style.

I have added in some beautiful and one of my all time favourite chipboard from Dusty Attic, the Baroque Corner. And also some Dusty Attic corrugated board to keep it a little rustic. The Baroque Corner piece was embossed and then sanded slightly to removed most all of the shine from the embossing powder.

And of course I added in some lace and twine along with some beautiful Poinsettias from Ultimate Crafts, large and smaller blooms I chose for this card.

And a little teastained muslin along with a dry brushing of gesso! I have a complete list of materials used for this little project below.

This Day - Amy Voorthuis Mood Board inspiration

Goodmorning lovelies,
Today it's me Amy here with you to share a mixed media layout using the gorgeous December mood board as my inspiration! I am a hugh fan of the color purple but I don't use it very often because I think it's a very hard color to scrap but it goes lovely with the colors grey and white.
So on my layout you will find some touches of purple, I really love that quote so I have used that with a picture of hubby and I! Lets'take a look at the December mood board:

This Day:
I started with a sheet of the pretty "Cotton Candy" collection by 7 Dots Studio that I primed with clear gesso. Then I used a couple of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, background stamps, art stones large/tiny and past to compliment my layout. I see myself as a starter creating these kind of layouts because for me it feels a layout is done when I stitched on it in any way so this way it feels unfinished! Is that something I only think?? Or do you have the same thing with something you didn't add on your works??

The beautiful chipboard pieces are gessod with black gesso accept for the two corner pieces those are primed with white gesso and later on I used some dark purple Lindy's powder on them. I had so much fun creating this layout and let me tell you I had trouble cleaning my hands to get to work at my day job hihi got to love that!

Lately I am hooked on using straws {don't know where that comes from it must be a phase I am going through} Do you ever use them??? The flowers on my layout are by several companies and I added some purple mica powder and white gesso on top of them to give them some sparkle.

At the end I added some diamond gems and two metal hearts.

Dream Big - Joanne Bain - Mood Board Inspiration

Hi Everyone!!

Joanne here today sharing my latest creation created for the gorgeous Dusty Attic December Mood Board Challenge. The challenge has an amazing prize of a $100 Dusty Attic Gift Voucher for the winner and to enter you simply need to use the Mood Board for Inspiration, you can interpret it anyway you like. The only requirement is that Dusty Attic chipboard is used in your creation. Once completed simply add your link to the right side bar of the Dusty Attic Blog.

So this is the December Mood Board.

As you can see there is lots of different shades of purple and grey. I really love the dark purple on this board but for me purple is a colour I like to look at but very rarely create with so it was a little challenging for me...lol.

This is my take on the moodboard.

'Dream Big'

I chose to create with the colour purple but went more for a cadbury chocolate wrapper purple and added just a few touches of the deep dark purple.

I started of my base cluster with some a set of the funky Dusty Doodads and then added the Dusty Swirl Heart.

I love the little hearts that are attached to the large Swirly Heart. To frame my photo I layered one of my favourite ATC frames and then topped with one of the Dusty String Baubles...love these!

For the title I used one of the mini captions, I love these they are just the perfect size. For this I painted in gesso then painted it in a light purple, then sprayed with the deep purple colour.
