Sweet - Lisa Gregory

Hello my Dusty Attic Lovers! After a brief absence, and fully recovered from illness, I am BACK!!! Dusty Attic not only has fabulous chipboard, but the Dusty in Colour water based acrylic paints to color your chipboard are just as fabulous. I have combined both on this layout. I love that I don't have to prime my chipboard before applying the Dusty In Colour paint. One coat is all you need in most cases. Today I have created a layout. I mounted a piece of patterned paper onto a 12x12 piece of corrugated cardboard and distressed the edges. I love the raw edge of the cardboard without any paint because it reminds me of being in the woods, where you might find these gorgeous birds hiding in the trees.

For the resin frame and the String Frame chipboard, I used  Dusty in Colour Oceania. The paint is thick and creamy and only required 1 coat. The resin frame was once yellow. You would never be able to tell because of the fabulous coverage of the paint.

For the flowers, I sprayed them with Lindys Stamp Gang starburst spray in Tiger Lily Red Orange with a tiny touch of Queen Of Hearts Red Flat Fabio. The flowers were a peach color to start with. The leaves were painted with Dusty In Colour Pesto and after the leaves dried I sprayed them with Lindys Frosty Forest Green starburst spray for a little bit of shimmer.

The fabulous Spring Blooms #2 chipboard was painted with Dusty In Colour Sunburnt Orange and Cranberry. The stems and leaves were painted with Pesto. For the floral parts of the blooms, I just dabbed the colors on the chipboard using my finger. I added a tiny bit of Navajo White Dusty In Colour to dab on the flowers while the other colors were still wet. This created a lighter highlighted color.

I also dabbed  a small bit of the Pesto on the String Chipboard to give it a worn look. Kind of like a patina. I added the single blooms onto the string chipboard.

The title Sweet, is a piece taken from the Word Pack # 14. I painted it the same colors I used in the Spring Blooms.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope that you are inspired to grab the fabulous Dusty In Colour to paint your Dusty Attic chipboard. There are so many colors to choose from.

Sunday, 26 July 2015

Hi there! Today I'd like to share with you an idea I'm working on throughout the year as a Chrissy present for my Mum, who loves gardening.
I'm making her a stand up monthly calendar, with photos I've taken.
Here's what I did using our current DUSTY ATTIC CHALLENGE MOOD BOARD:
The size of the whole calendar is around 8x11 inches, so the actual 'LO' has to be less than this.
Quite a FUN challenge scrapping this size!
I've painted up the DUSTY ATTIC POPPIES with DUSTY ATTIC PAINTS.
I kept the detail minimal, because of the page size, keeping with the mood board palette.
Can you see I've popped in just a smidgen of the blues?!!!
And for the 'magic' part of the title, there is a very subtle shading effect.....
I covered that lovely MAGIC chippy in DUSTY ATTIC GLOSS VARNISH, then
sprinkled lightly with the same glitter that is on the bg.
I really liked the sort of 'dew on the ground' effect of adding some DA GLOSSY CRACKLE VARNISH
to the bg stenciling, too. I wanted to keep my page quite 'earthy'...
And I actually looked carefully at our challenge picture & tried to mimic the overall design
with how I placed my elements.
My photo is the cave; the poppies the curved entrance:)
And once more, mounted on the calendar for Mum:
Thanks for looking & happy scrapping ~ Lizzy

Escape - Heather McMahon - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello again. It's Heather McMahon here with my layout using the gorgeous July mood board. Don't forget that the winner of this month's challenge receives a $100 voucher from Dusty Attic!

I had just downloaded some photos from my camera and when I saw the mood board I realised my photos would work perfectly with it.

Here's the mood board:

And here's what I made:

You can see I was completely inspired by the beautiful photo of nature. I focused on using the greens and complemented them with deep red Dusty Roses and Dusty in Colour Raisin paint.

I painted the foliage chippies with two shades of green Dusty Attic paint and added a few gold highlights.

The foundation of the background is torn paper and gesso with stamping and stencilling over the top. One of the words on the mood board is 'Magical' so I just had to use Lindy's Stamp Gang's Magicals as well!

The Dusty Attic products I used are:
Foliage #2 DA1292

Flutterbies #3 DA0766

Monarch Butterflies DA0819

Word Pack #10 DA1266

Dusty in Bloom Champagne Kisses

Dusty Roses - Deep Red

Dusty in Colour - Jungle Green, Forrest and Raisin

I hope you can join the challenge this month!

Happy scrappin'!

Hello, Hello - Jaqueline Moore - Mood Board Inspiration

Hey Dusty Attic Fans!!

I'm stopping by today to share with you a layout I created based on this months moodboard challenge at Dusty Attic. I have used lots of fab Dusty Attic Chippies, Paints and Varnish.

I really adore this photo of my Son..... He is so happy all the time and seeing his smile always brightens up my day. I wanted to create something fun and cheerful to match his personality.

Here is the moodboard:

I have taken the blue's, dark green, and salmon color from the moodboard to create my layout.

'Hello, Hello'

I have covered the background in squares cut from different patterned papers, before adding gesso, Dusty Attic Paints and a little mist.

Some Details:

I have drawn the word Hello onto a piece of Webster's page's paper then used my Stanley knife to cut it out by hand. I have taken the chipboard piece that said 'Hello Today' from the word set Mini Captions #2 and cut the 'today' off the bottom. I have painted it white with gesso and given a coat of Dusty Attic's Clear Gloss Varnish, before placing it above my hand-cut 'Hello'

I have covered an arrow from Arrows #1 with patterned paper, then glued it on top of another paper arrow, forming the tip of my Indian Arrow.

The Peacock Feather has been painted with gesso then mist to match the background.

I have used one of the new Mini Frames at the top of my arrow which I have covered with this really pretty Mint Liquid Pearls.

I have covered some chevrons from the Chevron Panel Small with patterened paper then attached them to the top of my page using foam tape.

I have covered a Polaroid frame with patterned paper as well tucking it between my flower layers to the left of the photo.

I have colored the little arrow here from Arrows #2 with a black marker.

I have cut one of the larger banners from Banners #1 and covered it in the same Websters pages paper I have cut my title in. The 'Be Happy' word disk was also colored with a black marker.

Thankyou for stopping by!
Until next time!
