Happiness is a cup of Coffee - Kim Arnold

Hi everyone! Today I am bringing you a layout that I have used last month's mood board and taken inspiration not only from the colours, but also the image. I have taken the opportunity to scrap about my love of coffee!

A quick reminder of the board

I had the perfect Dusty Attic title and coffee cup embellishment for this layout, and with the addition of a few chipboard word embellishments, my layout came together so easily. I will take you through what I have used and what techniques I applied.

I used shades of dark brown to bring in that colour from the mood board into my layout. Starting with the title, I rubbed it with a bronze Prima wax. My tip is to apply the wax lightly over the engraved words so that you don’t fill the words in. You are better to add several light layers than one heavy layer. I love the effect that the waxes give as they have a beautiful luster.

I used the same wax to colour the word disk. Again, adding the wax in thin layers so as to not fill in the engraved words. I popped the word disk onto of the cluster of flowers that I made in colours from the mood board.

I used an umber brown acrylic paint to paint the cup of coffee embellishment and I then lightly rubbed some of the bronze wax onto the steam rising above the mug.

I then painted the Daily #4 word (#happy place) with an ombre effect using the same umber paint with the wax added to only the bottom part of the words.

I hope you have a chance to get some creative time in soon.

Happy scrapping

Happiness is a cup of coffee - Lynette Jacobs - Mood Board Inspiration

Lynette here, welcome to the blog today. I am sharing my take on the August mood board. I used a photo Kobus took of me while we were on vacation and enjoying coffee.  I am also using the Penelope Dee Fleure collection that is the perfect fit for the colour challenge.

The Mood Board:

Dusty Attic Products:
Coffee Bean stencil

Some close up images:
I prepared my background and then applied Distress Oxide Ground Espresso through the Coffee Bean Stencil to diagonal corners of the page.  I stamped and cut flowers and leaves onto matching cardstock and fussy cut it make embellishment clusters.

I dry brushed the title in white acrylic paint and then coloured it with Distress Oxide Victorian Velvet and Ground Espress.

I applied white acrylic paint to the stamens to complete the embellishment clusters.

I adore this "coffee cup" chipboard and I heat embossed it in Lindy's Byzantine Bronze embossing powder.

Why not enter the Mood Board challenge yourself? All you need to do is add your take of the challenge into the comments section on the Dusty FANattics Facebook page HERE for your chance to win one of two amazing $50 Credits to choose any. Good Luck and have fun creating.

Until next time.  Happy crafting.
