Dream with your eyes wide open - Michelle Van Oudtshoorn - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello lovelies

As I am typing this blog post, winter has hit us down here in the South Island, NZ with a vengeance. It is snowing all around us on the main divide .. and here in Christchurch its been a mix of sunny, and a bit rainy, but very cold - quite a contrast. So, with this day being a indoors type of day,  I had the opportunity of creating a layout using this months moodboard

Such a beautiful moodboard - so soft and dreamy. I have created a layout using a photo of a close up of my daughters eye. And I love the title "Dream with your eyes wide open" I thought the dreamy and the colours all went together with the moodboard.

I started first with adding gesso to the page and then adding texture with a stencil and texture paste. Once this was dry I added different shades of brown splatters and then stamped with a script stamp. The photo is matted on various pieces of paper and then adhere to the page with foam tape but only in the centre leaving the outside open to tuck in chipboard and the flowers.
I used two flower posies - DA2634 and dabbed a light brown Prima Alchemy paint all over both of these. I then cut the daisy stem off one of the posies. The daisy and buds were painted with a darker Prima Alchemy paint. I then began layering around the photo. I adhered the full posie to the left of the photo, and then added the one which I cut off the flower under the photo.

I added some 49 and Market flowers and then added the single flower I cut from the other posie above the 49 and Market flowers on the left. I painted the Feathers by Nuneka - DA2733, in dark brown and added these under the flower cluster

The butterfly (mini Monarch DA 2385) was painted with dark brown paint, adhered to the flower and then covered with Stickles

I first embossed the title "Dream with your eyes wide open" and the title came out too orange. I then tried to cover it up with a dark brown archival ink, and some paint. It didn't quite work either. Then I added some unicorn Stickles and the colours all blended and I love how it turned out in the end - even if it has all sorts of medium on it :)

These are the products I have used:

DISCOVER new places - Rikki G - Mood Board Inspiration

Good morning how are you all? I am here today with another layout inspired by this months moodboard. How are you going with your entries?

I have to say this moodboard isn't my usual go to and it really got me out out of my comfort zone but the positive is that I had to go into my left over collections, you know those bits and pieces that just get shoved back into the stash for 'one day'....

By doing moodboards it gives you the opportunity to go into different collections and blend them together. And all you need is a little Dusty Attic Chipboard to tie them together.

Chop up your larger paneled chipboard, this will make your stash go further.

Layer, layer and layer your chipboard, make it look like its floating.

I hope you to see you add your entries to the this months moodboard, you still have few days to enter.

Till next time have a creative day

Rikki G

Sweet Memories - Judith Tijsen - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello everyone,

Today is the day, I can show you my very first project as a new DT Member of The Dusty Attic family.

I am very proud and happy that I have the opportunity to regularly show you my Dusty Attic creations here and hopefully inspire you with it.

I started with the June Moodboard and made a layout with it. That is already a good start for me because I love these soft colors. I only added a tiny bit of green to it.

I used a scrap sheet of 30x30 centimeters and first edited it with a layer of transparent gesso and a stencil.

All the chipboard has been treated with a layer of brown gold embossing powder and then lightly rubbed with brown wax.

Except for the texts, these are edited with white embossing powder.

I used the following Dusty Attic elements.

This is the moodboard for this month.

You could win one of two $50 AUD credits to the Dusty Attic online store. The only requirement is that you have Dusty Attic chipboard on your creation and enter your project on the Dusty FANattics Page.

Altered Mask - Deb Stephens - Mood Board Inspiration

Hello Dusty Fans and welcome to my June mood board inspired mixed media project, an altered mask.

I used a cheap mask purchased from a Children's Art and craft store and cut it up to the shape I wanted. I collaged it with some floral paper then stencilled in some paper texture paste using the Leaves Stencil DA 1492. Once dried, I added liquid watercolour paint and highlighted the paste with gold wax.

The Chipboard was painted and partially embossed with various embossing powders to give texture.

The layers were then built up with a selection of 49 and Market flowers, art stones, seed beads, clock embellishment and pearls.

Thanks for stopping by and looking! There is still time to enter the June Mood Board Challenge and win the prize. All you need to do is add your own take on the moodboard in the Dusty FANattics facebook page.
