Dream Passionately - Rikki G - Mood Board Inspiration

Wow we are at the end of the year !!! What a year it has been, plenty of highs and lows but the one thing that has been constant is trying to do a little bit more scrapping and using that time to reflect on the positives, and with that in mind the NEW Dusty Attic Moodboard is perfect for those reflective moments.

This time I really wanted to focus on doing a boy page, the tones happen to be my middle sons favourite colours.

So to start off I used the Parkwood Large tree and grabbed a selection of Tim Holtz Oxides - Cracking Campfire, Aged Mahogany, Carved Pumpkin. Used a blending brush and worked between colours to get a mixed leaf effect with shadows and high lights.

I also did the same effect on the Moon, using Tim Holtz Oxide - Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey.

Now your probably wondering about the metallic effect? This is achieved by using Lindy Stamp Gangs Magicals in the brown/ gold /copper tones. I used a large brush and dropped the colours over the top of the oxides, this allows the ink to come up off the chipboard and interact with the other colours of the Magicials.

To achieve the heavy watermark look on the chipboard elements- heat with a heat gun and do it intensely, and I do mean heat to the point of smoking. Dont worry its not burning its more about the water drying in the chipboard.

Use embossing enamel rather than power, it gives you a nice thick layer that looks like metal. Plus they also come in mixed tones so you get a lux look rather than one flat colour.

If your wondering... the leaves are fussy cut out of washi tape, yes I know that sounds insane but you get this sheer effect and you can curl the edges up.

Adding a little glass cabochon will make it look like a water droplet over your twig formation. Just stack the Driftwood chipboard so you get plenty of height and dimension.

We would love to see your take on our moodboard.  Don’t forget to share your projects on our Facebook page. Why not enter the Mood Board challenge yourself?
