Picture Perfect - Patricia Basson

My daughter Chantelle had her very own and unique idea of how her dress for the Matric Farewell Dance should look like...And unique she surely was...so much so that one of her teachers did not even recognise her, even though she was in his class earlier the day. She designed the dress and the Phoenix herself. We had the dress made and after the Dressmaker painted the Phoenix...I spend many an hours working sequins onto the dress...I am using this photo...again...for this month Design Team project for Dusty Attic.

I wanted my Dusty Attic chipboard pieces to be as rich and lustrous as the paint work is on the dress. Also used Art Ingredients to add sparkle to the page.

Using Kaisercraft's Be-You-tiful Collection, Delightful and Glamorous. Did some stamping on the background and decorated with Zinc Glass Beads, Gold Leaf Mica Flakes, Charcoal Art Sugar and A Penny Saved Prills...

I dressed the ATC Gothic Window and Scroll Border by painting them with Lindy's Stampgang Moon Shadow Mist, Buccaneer Bay Blue...it gave a brown base-coat colour with blueish sparkle. I also randomly embossed with Lindy's Embossing Powder, Hyacinth Blue Jade.

I painted the Decorative Frame with some white crackle Paint, and coloured it with Pesto and Ginger Alcohol Inks. I love the look I got by layering the two pieces on top of each other...

The title was painted with the Lindy's and the top also painted with the Crackle Paint and Alcohol Inks.

For Chantelle

The thing to do, it seems to me,
is to prepare yourself so you can be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud.
Somebody who may not look like you.
May not call God the same name you call God - if they call God at all.
I may not dance your dances or speak your language.
But be a blessing to somebody.
That's what I think.

  1. I love your layout. It's a good idea for the flowers and the picture between the paper.
