Handsome Boy - Deb Stephens - Mood Board Inspiration

This altered embroidery hoop was inspired by the February Mood board and came together with a lot of beautiful products including some the Naturalist 6x 8"collection Pack from 49 & Market, Die cuts, Paint and and Dusty Attic Chipboard and stencil.

The hoop was painted in shades of green and then gold embossing paste was applied through the stencil to the sides using the DA stencil called Scales. The hoop was then glued to a thick sheet of clear acetate after removing the protective film from one side and left to dry. The excess acetate was then trimmed from around the hoop with a trimmer and more gold embossing paste was stencilled onto it in various sections and left to dry.

Gesso was then applied to all the chipboard (except the black Mini Tabs) then painted and embossed. I used a selection of frames, mini tabs, mini foliage, love arrows for this. My favourite part is that there was not a lot of fussy cutting! I used dies to cut out more leaves of different sizes from the Vintage Artistry collection of paper along with their pop out elements and flowers.

I finished it off by building and adhering up the layers and adding bits of Tule and Sisal for added interest along with some 49 & Market Flowers. I removed the protective backing from the acetate from the back of the hoop and sat it on a clear stand for display. I love how the layout seems to "float" in the hoop (it's hard to take a photo because all backgrounds show through the acetate).

I hope the Mood Board inspires you to get out your craft stash and start creating again.
